Transcript - Hi everyone,
Wondering how to request BSL interpreters for events and concerts? Here at Performance Interpreting, we recognise how many barriers there are facing the deaf community when it comes to this and weâre working with the industry to try and break down some of those barriers.
We want to share some basic information about how to book tickets for most concerts in the Uk and Ireland:
If you want to go to a concert or festival, first book your ticket online.
If you are Deaf or hard of hearing, contact the eventâs Accessible Team. Usually, you can do this on the venueâs Access Page on their website.
You can contact them by: ⢠Email ⢠Or VRS (Video Relay Service)
Tell them: ⢠The name of the event ⢠The date ⢠That you need accessible tickets ⢠That you are requesting a sign language interpreter
Itâs very important to request an interpreter in advance. This is how organisers know to book one and make the event accessible.
You can also ask for a free plus one (companion) ticket.
The earlier you contact them, the better.
Make sure you CC [email protected] in your email so we can support this request and follow it up for you.
If you are looking to attend a concert or event and would like a BSL service there, please do send us the details and weâll try to help.
Thank you.

Deaf Awareness Week â Day Four
Breaking Barriers in Sport
Sport should belong to everyone.
But for Deaf fans, access is still too often an afterthought. Today is about changing that.
Breaking barriers means:
⢠Interpreters at matches, races, other events.
⢠Clear visual information, not just shouted instructions
⢠Deaf fans having the same matchâday experience as hearing fans
⢠Deaf athletes being seen, supported, and celebrated
Sport is community. Sport is identity. Sport is joy.
And Deaf people deserve to be part of it without fighting for access every single time.
When we remove barriers, Deaf talent shines.
When we provide access, Deaf fans belong.
When we listen to Deaf voices, sport becomes truly inclusive.
