I went out with a friend couple months ago, and while I don’t talk about you often, I found comfort in her, so I felt safe sharing your Goodness. She told me she lost her father over 20 years ago, and we spent some time talking about loss and grief. She’s now in her 40’s, and as we shared memories, I couldn’t help but think about how much of you I would remember as I get older. At a point in our conversation, I quietly shared a thought I had been battling this year, “I feel like the memories are slowly fading away.” Memories that once felt touchable, now feel very distant. And not a minute goes by without me thinking about you, but a picture that was once so clear in my mind is now a little bit cloudy. Through our conversation, I was reminded of how important it is to talk about our loved ones that have passed. Trying to forget what happened, my coping mechanism, only makes the heart numb, and I want every heartbeat to remember you. As she spoke about her father, she smiled, and while I know deep down the pain is ever-present, I hope that one day as I talk about you, I will be able to smile. Goody, it’s been 7 years since I last saw you, but truly, it still feels like 7 days. I know you live on through the lives you’ve touched. And I hope I will forever be able to see your smile and hear your voice. And while some memories may fade, the love will never fade, and you will forever be cherished in my heart 💙🕊✨

6 🕊✨ I did not want to go today I wanted to be still I did not want to feel anything But of course I went Today it rained continuously like it did on the day of your transition It gave me painful flashbacks of your journey The day I asked God if He could perform just one miracle for me But oddly enough I love rain Where there is rain There is renewal Mummy came to visit We went and got flowers As we sat in the heavy traffic I told her everything would be okay and made a call “The gate closes at 3:30”, the lady said I looked at the gps and saw 3:41 So I whispered to God and said Please let everything be ok When we got there The gate was open So we rushed out A man came to tell us they were closed I told him we would only take a minute But we took ten And he waited As we walked down the muddy trail I realized the man had been watching us the entire time Standing in the cold rain He asked, “Is that your son with the black headstone?” We both nodded “I only asked because he’s next to my son. Some girls came to visit him. And when I saw them the next time, they had some extra flowers. They put it over my son and some lights. Since then, I’ve been wiping him off.” He started to cry And a part of me The part that did not want to go anywhere The part did not want to feel anything Felt everything “I look out for him. For some reason, I kind of took to him. Since the girls had put some on my side, I put some on their side.” This encounter reminded me of you Your Goodness The love and warmth you bestowed on everyone you met while on Earth touched a man that never physically experienced your presence His name is David As the three of us continued talking in the rain He told us that he now closes the gate everyday He takes the time to pray and talk to his son Listening to his voice break I could not help but think to about how David might have really needed someone to talk to today And his presence meant the world to us He put some on our side And we put some on his side A couple days ago I wrote in my notes 6 years feels like 6 days As we left Mummy told David It’s been 6 years But it feels like 6 days Goodness Today I met an Angel His name was David 🦋💙✨
