A huge thank you to @jackeichel & @perform_better for helping @terrierhockey @terrierwhockey revamp our conditioning section in the weight-room! _ One of the biggest misconceptions in hockey training is that hockey itself is enough conditioning. Early offseason isn’t about trying to mimic shifts on the ice. It’s about restoring movement, rebuilding tissue tolerance, improving cardiovascular fitness, and addressing loss of function from a long season. Hockey is a repeat sprint sport. Better conditioning helps you recover faster between shifts, maintain speed and skill deeper into games, and stay healthier over the course of a season. Even the best players need it. A Ferrari still needs air in the tires and an oil change. You get what you put in. Build the engine early so you can layer hockey-specific conditioning in later.

KB Deadbug + Band Hip Flexion Isometric So many good things happening in this exercise: 1️⃣ Hip Flexion
Knee drives up past the hip to challenge the iliacus and psoas as true hip flexors—not just the quads. 
Resist the pull of the band throughout to produce a constant isometric challenge   2️⃣ Core Control
The long lever deadbug lights up the anterior core and lower abs, particularly on the moving-leg side. 
The band adds an additional anti-extension challenge as it tries to pull the leg down and the pelvis out of position. I prefer starting with a lighter band and simply having the client back up to increase tension as needed. 3️⃣ Position
The kettlebell reach encourages a better ribcage position and helps keep the hips heavy for a more neutral pelvis. The goal is hip disassociation without compensation through the lumbar spine. We can progress the movement further by adding arm action. These Perform Better First Place Safety Toner Bands make this setup simple and effective. If the full combination is too challenging, break the exercise into its two main components first:
