This is where my first memory of music starts…..this face
It has been 20years but I still remember driving to church and leaving his laps to go and sing a special song..our favorite was 🎶I almost Let go🎶 by Kurt Carr.
When he died, I composed songs with his name, I didn’t sing much but music always brightened my mood.
The morning after we arrived Lagos, I woke up on that Saturday morning to my aunt’s cassette playing music 🎶Bendel Girl in Lagos🎶 by Esse Agesse, trust my brain to twist it to “Ijaw Girl in Lagos” hahaha😃
Elems came home from Gabon and I didn’t understand him but when he started to sing a folk song he learned, I was instantly his best friend, he would twist his back upwards and sideways and sing “casser les dos hopital le la”
The joy!!!
Thankful for “1000 Forms of Fear” and how it helped drown the noise from my head on the trotro rides from Miotso to Circle.
Music has and will always be a part of me✨
