The dusty red road, at the edge of the Gambia leading to Senegal felt like returning home. I find it hard to write the beginning of the story, as each day i find myself revealing new parts which perhaps i overlooked. Last days in Senegal, where life remembers how to be simple. No clocks.Time is not counted, it’s felt. People don’t always know their age, no birthdays , and somehow that feels like freedom rather than loss. Days unfold without being measured, without being optimized. Just lived. There is beauty in this simplicity. In the smiles that arrive easily, straight from the heart, without performance. In the way life is not separated from the land. The roads are sandy, soft, alive. Mangoe trees every corner. Cashews, coconuts, bananas, palms, everything grows as if abundance were the most natural state of being. Nature doesn’t rush, yet everything thrives. Being here feels like stepping out of Babylon. Out of the system, the noise, the endless acceleration of the Western world. Here, rhythm comes from the sun, the rain, the seasons, the soil. I feel good here. Grounded. In my element. Closer to the essence of what it means to be human ,connected, present, enough. This land doesn’t ask for more. It reminds ys that we already are.
