Sometimes I don’t have the right words to say how much I appreciate you, but today I want to try.
I’m grateful and thankful that God has allowed me to have almost 35 years on this earth with you. When I think about your story, I’m amazed. Losing your mother at 15 and your father before 16, and still finding the strength to become the mother, woman, wife, sister, friend, and grandmother you are today is nothing short of God.
You taught me resilience. You taught me how to keep going when life gets hard. You taught me faith, how to trust God, how to make something out of nothing, how to give from the heart, and how to believe that God will always provide.
I’ve never seen you back down from a fight. I’ve never seen you give up. Even when you were going through your own battles, you still showed up. If I call and say, “Mama, I need you,” I know you’re coming.
The woman I am today is because of you. Because I watched you. Because I learned from you. Because I saw your strength for myself.
