Feb.’26 - After six intense days in Paris, balancing family matters, wine fairs, & a long drive through near-flood conditions we arrived safely in Alsace at Domaine Achillée @drink_achillee Thanks to Pierre’s steady driving (and storytelling), we made it to Dambach-la-Ville around 1 AM, quietly settling in before heading out the next morning to taste the Grand Cru Frankstein Riesling in the vines under the rain with his father, Yves. The Dietrich family has farmed near Scherwiller for over 400 years, with a cellar dating to 1620. What began as a mixed farm evolved into a dedicated wine estate when Yves Dietrich went fully to viticulture in the 1960s, later guiding the domaine into organic farming in 1999 and biodynamics in 2003. Since 2016, his sons Jean and Pierre have led the 18.5-hectare estate, continuing a philosophy rooted in respect for terroir and minimal intervention. Certified organic and biodynamic for over 20 years, the estate focuses on low yields, living soils, and ecological balance across diverse Alsatian terroirs, sand, gravel, sandstone, clay, schist, and granite. The family also co-founded PÉPIN @pepin.vin a collab project supporting low-intervention winemakers in the region. Working with Duo Oenology, it helps smaller producers bring additive-free wines to broader markets. Crafted with healthy grapes, indigenous yeasts, and minimal intervention in the cellar, these wines have gained a sincere following that spans their small villages to tables around the globe. 𝗘 𝗽𝗼𝗶 𝗰’𝗲̀ 𝗣𝗲́𝗽𝗶𝗻. Un vino che nasce in Alsazia dal progetto di giovani vignaioli che hanno deciso di fare le cose semplici: agricoltura biologica, fermentazioni spontanee, zero complicazioni inutili. Il risultato è una bottiglia viva, diretta, conviviale. Uno di quei vini che non chiedono attenzione assoluta… ma finiscono sempre prima degli altri. Anche l’etichetta lo dice chiaramente: equilibrio precario, calice in mano e voglia di stare insieme. Lo abbiamo messo in carta perché è esattamente il tipo di bottiglia che ci piace stappare al bancone. Se sei curioso, sai dove trovarci.
