Out Now: Marian Marks - Till the Nail Comes
Marian Marks refers not to the musician, but instead to some two hundred plus recordings which, for their creator at least, serve an
apotropaic function in warding of witches and demons which are all his own. They are the solo, or better solitary, work of Dr Stephen Charles Robinson, formerly of the free noise quartet Aufgehoben and sometime supplier of dense percussive tracks to Triple Negative.
The seven tracks collected here emerge from a very recent interest in the tonal sympathies of cello and timpani and the opportunities afforded by bowed instruments for exploring the elasticity of time and the phenomenology of internal time consciousness. With close proximity to the sea, the river, and the elements, including named storms hammering upon the houseboat in which he lives and records, these pieces are unintentionally but acutely site-specific.
An exceptionally wet and tempestuous season has bled into these darkly restless undulating and enveloping sound-worlds which are created from layer upon layer of single notes, percussion hits and distended voices. They provide the settings for meditations on very specific familial female relationships, and themes concerning the ellipses of memory, of time and the spectral presence of pasts and irrecuperable futures in the constitution of the lived present. Perennially, questions of faith, of mortality, of meaning and being.

Schurer is one the absolute pioneers of extreme computer music amongst other mischievous and radical online activities in the nascent days of the internet.
Soliloquy Synthesis was created in anticipation of his father’s passing and premiered at the NNOI festival in Zernikow, Brandenburg, Germany, July 2025. A week after the anticipated event transpired.
Marc Baron - Soleil-Neon

Soleil-Néon is a nine-part piece composed in 2024 — a set of examinations of the electroacoustic machinery of the studio. The title is taken from William Burroughs’ Soft Machine. Demagnetisation fields, magnetic corrosion (chilled, burnt, striated), over-amplified machines, dismantled spring reverbs, looped dictaphones, amplified hammers and throat, giant tape loops passing through doors, an old cassette carrying a horse-riding carousel, traces of the first wire recording, and a stubborn synthesiser.
