Tracks and Fences Scarf ➰️ a new 8-shaft pattern by Penny Lacroix
This springtime scarf made with Beam 8/2 Organic Cotton and Sero Silk Noil features lace blocks that resemble little fences following a path over the hills and valleys of the wearer’s neck and shoulders 🌼
Additionally, due to Beam’s twist, the cloth develops a tracking pattern after wet-finishing, which introduces a subtle dimension to the design. Use the colors shown, or select colors close in hue to gently draw out the lace patterning ✨️

Braided Twill Scarf ➰️🧣 a new 8-shaft pattern by Penny Lacroix
Ode Alpaca makes the warmest, most snuggly scarf you can imagine 🦙✨️ This 8-shaft Braided Twill is deceptively simple with a straight draw threading and a “walking” treadling sequence. The motif creates an illusion of woven weaving. A joy to weave, and to wear!

Just completed this Zentangle project pack with my mom. We did it together over zoom (and a little in person) over the past few months. It was a nice way to spend time together when we're mostly far apart.

Last week's NEWS was positively memorable!
We started with a day at Historic Deerfield, where we got a private curator's talk on some of the textiles in their collections. Then came 4 days of classes, exhibits and vendors.
More than 20 members of the Nashoba Valley Weavers Guild (NVWG) attended, showing their (somewhat rebellious) spirit with temporary tattoos.
I had classes on sustainable spinning with @treeoflifeknitter and 3-color pickup inkle weaving with @aspinnerweaver , as well as a seminar with Robyn Spady on refining design and execution details in handwovens.
My Gallery Show entry, "Bamboo Forest", won second place in Baby/Lap Blankets, and I was honored to receive a special award for Lovely Lace given in memory of Diana Frost by Mainely Weavers. Although it's woven from organic 8/2 cotton the lace variation makes it resemble a bamboo forest. It's a variation of a lace name draft I originally designed for Gist Yarn.

Wednesday was a sad day. The Fiber Loft closed after 50 years in business. It was my Happy Place. It's where I learned to weave in 2001 from Reba Maisel. It's where I did the majority of my teaching, both spinning and weaving. And it's where I met my friends on Tuesday mornings for our weavers' study group.
Thank you to Reba, Suzanne, Carol, Ann, all my Fiber Friends, and all my eager students over the years!
My days and weeks will change. I'll continue to teach at A Place to Weave and The Unruly Stitch. But I miss The Fiber Loft.
