Defeat for the Arrows at @launcestoncricket
Pencarrow made the trip up the A30 on Saturday to face Launceston 2ās, with both team eager for victory after the rain had hampered the beginning to both sides seasons.
Launceston batted first and continuously built steady partnerships with Tyler Westlake (61) and James Theobald (40) the pick of the batters. The Arrows battled hard and Jack Carter (2-33), Simon Clay (2-42), Harry Durnall (1-19), Mat Appleton (1-27) and Eddie Thomson (1-37) sharing the wickets around.
Launceston set Pencarrow 178 to win.
After a tough couple of years for the club where batting 40 over hasnāt exactly been a regular occurance, the team dug it out in the second innings. Although victory looked distant after top opening spells from Ryan Vanstone (1-21) and Kieran Welch (1-37) Pencarrow gave it their all to seek victory.
Simon Clay (43), Kev Sherratt (32) and Jack Carter (31) the pick of the batsman as Pencarrow fell short reaching 141-6.
Pencarrow host @bugle_cc next Saturday at the PCG where both clubs will be looking for their first victory of the season.
Launceston 177-7 (17) bt Pencarrow (141-6) (6) by 36 runs.

Our next sponsor shoutout is Eddie Thomson.
Eddie has been a breath of fresh air to the club since arriving in 2023. It didnāt take long for Eddie to bring his calming nature to the club, and has been ever-present as Chairman since 2024.
Eddie is a swing bowler bowler by trade, although he will tell you in the pub that he is a bonafied all-rounder!
Eddie is sponsored by @firebrandbeer an award-winning craft brewery based in Launceston, originally founded in 2012 in a converted milking parlour on the edge of Bodmin Moor.
The brewery has since expanded into a larger taproom and brewing space in Launceston, helping it become one of Cornwallās best-known independent breweries.
As we play Launceston away this weekend, the Arrows are looking forward to a post match pint at the brewery, with all supporters welcome.

Our next sponsor shoutout is exciting youngster Jake Boyling.
Jake, who has joined the Arrows this year, has looked very exciting in the nets with his pacey bowling and looks set for an exciting league campaign!
Jake is sponsored by @the_olde_house , Farm Cottages which are part of Penpont Farm, and have been in the Hawkey family for three generations. The Olde House, started by Andrew & Janice in the 1970ās is now run by Jaime and Shaun, ably assisted by Shaunās brother Dom, whilst Olly runs Penpont Farm, so itās a proper family affair.
The self-catering cottages proved very popular as visitors enjoyed the mix of a working farm with the peace and quiet of the countryside. The farm is ideally positioned for exploring the rugged North Cornwall coastline, and is especially close to nearby Padstow, Polzeath and the Camel Estuary.
Our next sponsor shoutout is Simon Clay.
Simon, known usually for his batting prowess, turned to bowling spin king last season as his 13 wickets in 3 games helped the Arrows to safety. We look forward to having Simon on the pitch more in 2026!
Simon is sponsored by @jewsonuk one of the largest chains of British general buildersā merchants, selling to small and medium building contractors.
The chain comprises of around 500 branches located all across the country. Visit the team at Newport trading estate, Launceston for all your building needs.
Those with eagle eyes, may have spotted that Simon is wearing our new 2026 playing shirt.. which will be getting its full reveal this Saturday!
Our sponsor shoutouts are coming thick and fast this week.
Isaac is an opening batsman who last year scored his maiden league century and is looking to increase that figure in 2026. In his earlier years, Isaac wrote himself into Pencarrow folklore by hitting a 6 off the very last ball to win a thriller against Werrington.
Isaac is sponsored by @haywoodfarm.cider , a traditional Cornish cider producer based in the Allen Valley near St Mabyn, just outside Bodmin. It is a family-run farm where cider has been made for centuries using apples grown in their own orchards, which have been carefully developed and expanded over recent years to suit the Cornish climate.
The result is a range of authentic still and sparkling ciders that reflect proper Westcountry cider-making traditions, produced on-site using a granite press and traditional methods.
Visitors are often welcomed for tastings and orchard tours, giving it a strong sense of local community and craftsmanship.
