“A single momentary sound may be the result of three or four hours of re-patching and re-recording… the perceiver cannot hear the amount of time and planning spent on the production of an event. As listeners, we don’t judge the aesthetic content of a composition by the time spent on its creation, but rather its sonic information.” — Allen Strange
I am happy to announce the release of this Buchla project, inspired by Allen Strange.

If you’re going to @superbooth_berlin , stop by and visit with Andrew & Bob & the @groovesynthesis crew. They have some of my demos running including some immersive 3rd Wave patches in quad 🔊🔉🔊🔉
Setting up 5.1 surround sound for the @poppyjasperiff . We’re screening some great films this weekend. Saturday schedule features a variety of animations and short films. Sunday is the sci-fi block.
But really I’d love to have @oncewewerespacemen screen something from the new Firefly series in the Barn! It totally has the folksy“outer planets” vibe 😎
proof of concept max patch with the 230 where a multitrack audio file sends four channels of quad audio and control signals. I’m trying to dial in the right type of audio control signal that will effectively translates through the 230 into a Buchla system. The slew on the 230 helps smooth out the signals which are recorded from an easel performance, but if the decay time is too short, the envelope follower cv closely follows the curve of the waveform.
With all the recent interest in obsolete music software—especially ReBirth RB-338—I wanted to make sure an old piece of the community doesn’t disappear.
For years, my server has stored an archive of 300+ ReBirth v2 mods made by users from the early Propellerhead community. I always meant to build a proper page to share them, but never quite got around to it. We kept sharing them through the old Hotline server instead, which stayed active until about a decade ago.
But today is #303Day, so it feels like the right moment to finally put this out on a GitHub repository.
This archive includes a mix of material—some mods were official releases once featured on the Propellerhead website, and others were unfinished experiments that never really made it out into the world. Either way, there’s a lot there.
If you’re a newer ReBirth enthusiast running RB-338 on vintage hardware (or in emulation), there are tons of sounds, ideas, and inspiration to dig through in this collection.
my website has been running on the same server for about 25 years, which is kind of amazing in internet terms. Thanks to the generosity of my hosting provider, we’ve kept this machine alive for as long as possible (yes—still a single box sitting in a data center in Delaware). That said, the time has come to move on from some vintage internet technology. In about a month, the server will be physically removed from the data center.

The latest OS update for the H9000 seems to have solved the issues I was encountering with the Gen2 processor upgrade. The DSP module crash was pretty obscure and could not be reproduced by eventide support. I’ve incorporated some of the new granular algorithms with my quad performance sessions and things feel very stable.
We caught a little demo of the @scoopyscooplabs Rune-1 synth which is a surprisingly expressive device with haptic feedback. The controls are touch contacts that you can kind of strum to initiate the sound and control dynamics. The developer was testing it here through the bass floor panels and had some nice low end tones moving the space.
