Our baby girl turned 2!! Wow she's grown so much over this past year.
Avalina is so sweet, silly, sassy, and smart! She's already so independent- she's the "boss" at daycare (and at home too) and her current catch phrase is "I got it!"
She loves her so-so's (sausages) and bawks (chicken). She loves baby shark and Elmo, unicorns and dinosaurs, and she loves to play with her big brother.
Avalina, you fill our days with so much laughter and fun and love. We love you so much! Happy birthday!! 💖💖💖
Welp, I'm sad to be posting this but rice & beans is going to be needing a new General Manager! But I am so happy for Heather and her new endeavor! She will kill it for sure! I ask that if you are all able to share it with your networks so we can spread the word far and wide. I'm excited to see who applies and who will be the one to help rice & beans in its new chapter! Here is what the post says over at rice & beans. Link at the rice & beans insta. Feel free to message me if you have questions or want the link direct.
"Today is a day of mixed emotions. On one hand, we are SUPER excited to put out our call for a new General Manager who will be a key person in the next steps of rice & beans. On the other hand, we are deeply saddened that this means the one, the only Heather Barr is moving on from the organization. We could not be happier for her in this next phase. She has been a fantastic advocate, coworker and friend over the years, and where she is going (stay tuned on that!) is lucky to have her.
"Being the General Manager at rice & beans has been so rewarding. It has taught me to be a well-rounded administrator and given me the chance to work with so many amazing artists (including Pedro!!)." - Heather Barr
Are YOU the next General Manager of rice & beans? We'd love to hear from you! The Deadline to Apply is December 14th. Check out the full position call at: /jobs "
Our little guy is 4 years old! Franklin is such a fun, kind, silly, smart kid. He's such a sweet big brother and loves that he can play more with his sister now that she's big enough. He's grown so much just this year. He started preschool, is learning how to write letters, and making great friends.
He's still obsessed with dinosaurs, but he also loves spiderman, tigers, and kpop demon hunters (so does mom). He is so filled with love and so bright. Whenever I'm having a rough or blah day, just spending time with him makes me feel better.
Thanks for making us parents. We love you buddy.

I have always loved Steller's jays, they have always visited me wherever I lived. My dad LOVED the Toronto Blue Jays (but was not getting that) and for my JBird. I love her to bits.

This is 40.
I have a lot of big feelings about hitting this number. None of which are sad. I am grateful to have made it here. To have so much when others have nothing or are being persecuted and bombed.
These forty years have not always been easy. There were lean times and deeply heartbreaking times. Times when I had less than $50 to make it till my next pay cheque. Times when I cried tears cause it all felt too big. Still does sometimes and the tears still come. But I don't dwell on those memories, they've helped shape me, build my resolve to survive.
What sticks with me is the laughter and the love. All the smiles and chuckles that I have shared with everyone I know. So on this milestone of a birthday thank you. Thanks to ALL OF YOU, if you are reading this I'm lucky to have shared time with you, a moment, a laugh. Especially thanks to @withamelon my love for every you do, you're such an amazing partner and mother. My wonderful kids who have shown me how deep my love can go. To Ian and Pat who are the most amazing and supportive parents in-law a guy could ask for. And to my Mom and sister @teresa.ganson who raised me to be the man I am. And of course my Dad, I miss you every day.
If the last year has taught me anything (it shouldn't have taken 40 years to realize) we don't know how much time we have left so in case I haven't told you yet. I love you.
