Six years ago, I was so blessed with this little Nugget that came to me very abused and tossed in the garbage, so I knew the answer would be giving him as much love as possible . Grandmother Panchita Calfín is a lawentuchefe—a woman of medicine and traditional de Calfín.
Since then, Grandmother has walked with medicine in her heart. She has worked in various public and private institutions, attending patients, and has taught the Mapuche language and culture in kindergartens and schools. She is also President of the Center for Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples in Chile and has been invited to numerous national and international events as a speaker on the situation of Indigenous peoples, the care of medicine, and traditional knowledge.
