🕊️ It's Peace Corps Week! . For 65 years, Americans have left home to live and work in communities around the world. Close to 250,000 have served. . They have taught in rural classrooms. 📘 Supported health outreach. ❤️ Worked alongside farmers and small business owners. 🌾 Sat at kitchen tables learning new languages late into the night. 🗣️ . The Peace Corps has changed since 1961, but the mission has not. This week, we’re kicking off our 65th year with a nod to those committed to the idea that peace can be built through service, partnership, and shared understanding. . If you are a Returned Volunteer, you are part of this history. If you are considering Peace Corps service, this is your time. peacecorps.gov . #PeaceCorps #PeaceCorps65

Come along for a quick tour of Evan’s home! 🏡 . Most Volunteers live with host families for cultural integration, at least during pre-service training. We love to see Evan feeling right at home with his amazing host family (and enjoying all the delicious home cooking!). ❤️ . Do you have to live with a host family during Peace Corps service? No Internet Needed to Access Digital Libraries in Lesotho 📚 . In partnership with @Solar_SPELL Initiative, Teryn and other Education Volunteers are working with schools in Lesotho to introduce solar-powered electronic devices loaded with digital literacy and numeracy tools to the classroom. 📔 . Students can access lessons and resources in Sesotho, English, and French through these devices without internet or mobile data, an important consideration for schools where reliable connection is not a given. . A good neighbor welcomes you in, invites you over for a cup of tea, and treats you like you belong. That spirit matters in the Peace Corps. It's how Volunteers build trust over time, find their footing, and begin the work they came to do. . 🗓️ Good Neighbor Day is May 16. As we count down to it, we're recognizing the people whose everyday kindness shapes Peace Corps service. . Ready to start your own service journey? Click the link in bio.

Matthew taught 10th and 11th graders in Viet Nam and spent most weeks planning and co-teaching 18 class periods. One student started calling him “Matt-leficent” during a lesson on films and television. Another biked over just to hand him a bottle of water after a hard day. . These are the moments Matthew has taken with him after two years of service. In his words, "The experiences I have had and connections I have made in Việt Nam will continue to shape me for the rest of my life." Read more by clicking the link in bio.
