We're thrilled to team up with Atlanta's favorite comedy event, FilmSlam, to launch an annual showcase of the best local sketch comedy - Peaberry ComedySlam! Our first combined event takes place Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Landmark's Midtown Arts Cinema. If you know the FilmSlam format, you'll feel right at home - the timing and screening structure will remain mostly the same, with just two updates: • One event per year: ComedySlam will now be an annual April showcase, serving as a spring counterpart to the Peaberry Film Festival each October. • Sketch-focused submissions: We're doubling down on the sketch-comedy roots of FilmSlam, so submissions are now capped at 5 minutes. Longer shorts will continue to have a home at Peaberry Film Festival. Submissions remain completely free. Our goal is to create an annual lineup featuring the very best of Atlanta's sketch-comedy scene - a night of big laughs, creative collaboration, and vibrant local filmmaking. Submit your projects at Peaberryfest.org under the tab “Comedy Slam”! @youknowparky #comedy #atlcomedy #atl @brentlzfilms

Lovely shout-out by @mirrorboxfilms in their recent Substack article (free to subscribe!) on “Rejection.” Hudson’s articles are essential morning reading over here — they’re full of valuable insights and serve as a great reminder that we’re all out here trying to live passionately. Big recommend. On the subject of awards, Hudson’s spot-on. Every year we have this roster of projects whole teams of people poured themselves into, and when these projects are curated together they converse with each other and with us — individually and collectively. It’s freaking beautiful. Once you arrive at that point, what else is there to win? The answer of course is lots of money and we’re working on it!

One of our festival MVP’s @davidfilmart wrote a whole dang song and shot and edited this fabulous video recapping Peaberry 2025. Sharing this today because the season has me feeling thankful for all of you who participate in the festival each year: filmmakers, audiences, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and community advocates. Currently, 2026 is looking like a year full of programming beyond just the festival in October, and we’re excited to share some of these announcements with you soon. Rock on, — Brent

Our hearts are full after a beautiful weekend celebrating Latine films with Peaberry Film Festival. It was an afternoon filled with connection, storytelling, and heartfelt conversations that reminded us exactly why we do this work. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who joined us, from our Atlanta supporters, to Peaberry regulars, the Historic Canton Theatre, and the Canton community. Thank you to Brent Lambert-Zaffino for his generosity, friendship, and true allyship. To the filmmakers and mentors, thank you for sharing your stories, your voices, and your heart. The dialogue continues, and we’re so inspired by what’s ahead.
