Hey guys, would you believe me if I told you that it’s possible to have a ‘first look’ and still have a natural, emotional reaction when seeing each other down the aisle?
While the traditional way is still preferred by some, many couples today are choosing to have a first look in effort to have a more seamless wedding day experience.
Here’s what I mean:
1. Couples who prepare to have a first look are prepared to be ready well in advance, thus increasing the chances of an on-time ceremony.
2. A first look can enable couple portraits to be captured in a more relaxed environment with fewer distractions. This can allow for a greater number and diversity in your couple portraits.
3. It can allow couples to enjoy their hors d’oeuvres and/or mingle with their guests during cocktail hour as couple, bridal party and family portraits all can be photographed pre-ceremony.
4. For persons who struggle with anxiety, a first look can significantly alleviate any nervousness they might feel, helping them to enjoy the ceremony more fully.
Now, if you’re reading this and you’re still not feeling the idea of having a first look, that’s perfectly okay.
I firmly believe that the decision to have a first look is a personal one, and couples should choose what feels right for them based on their preferences and values.
For my clients, I fully support their decision to have or not have a first look, assuring them that either way, I will put my best foot forward to capture their wedding day.
I want to open the floor to your thoughts though guys.
Any past brides/grooms that had a first look on their wedding day? What was your experience?
Any past brides/grooms that did not have first look and care to share their wedding day experience?
Future brides/grooms, what will you be doing on your wedding day and why?
Wedding vendors, of any role, what’s your professional insight / experience with having or not having a first look?
This is a safe space.
