For our final curtain call please welcome to the stage, from Noel Coward’s, Private Lives, it’s Amanda Prynne! (Mid 20’s - Early 40’s) - Beautiful, second-time bride, formerly married to Elyot, now married to Victor. Has a fiery temper and a tendency toward impulsive behavior. She holds herself up high with a witty and elegant demeanor, whilst also being volatile beneath a polished surface. Always in a state of yearning for control and dignity of any situation. - Poised posture, crisp diction, sardonic smile; can flip from cool and reserved to theatrical passion in a heartbeat. - Moves with practiced grace; uses costumes/accessories as tools of status and filtration; physicality becomes more unrestrained in emotional scenes. - Beneath her glamour and sarcasm, she reveals real vulnerability and need.

From the Script to the Stage, introducing Sibyl Chase. (Mid 20’s – Early 30’s) – Young, attractive first-time bride, whom always feels threatened by her husband’s (Elyot) ex-wife. She is wholesome and has a strong desire to hold on to her marriage and hold on to what remains between her and Elyot. She instinctively has an intense hatred of Amanda. Can be naïve due to her young age which sometimes comes out in gestures or the way she communicates. - Sweet, impressionable, sincere, and increasingly bewildered by the others duplicity. - She is very reactive to the situation, in the beginning she is much more composed but becomes more distressed and broken as the reality of the kind of man Elyot truly is, is revealed; Her vulnerability should feel real, not sentimental.

With auditions for Private Lives coming up this weekend here is a note from the director Cameron Wunderlich! I am very pleased to have the opportunity of presenting this year’s second show to our community. I am beyond ecstatic if not a bit nervous making my directorial debut this season, though I feel I have surrounded myself with veterans on and behind the stage that will help make this show come to life. Private Lives takes us into the not so private lives of Amanda and Elyot (formerly married to one another) as they begin their new marriages. Unknowingly, honeymooning right next to each other at the Deauville Seaside Casino in France, the two come face to face and in a moment of weakness, runoff together. Oh, what tragedy and comedy can come of this? For more information regarding character descriptions or audition and show dates, please visit the Private Lives Show Information Tab. Auditions will be held Sunday, April 26th at 3:00pm and Monday, April 27th at 7:00pm at the Putnam County Playhouse in the Michael McClaine Rehearsal Center

Next up For Noel Cowards Private Lives is: Victor Prynne (Mid 20’s – Early 40’s) – Amanda’s second husband, very pleased to call himself normal. A little older than Amanda; a wealthy business man and conventional. Very cordial but has a tense competitive nature towards Elyot; sympathetic to Sybils distress. His goal is to protect his and Amanda’s marriage and social respectability. - Bluntly earnest, a little pompous but fundamentally decent. - On stage, he is upright and has more controlled movements; as the show progresses, he becomes more exasperated and wounded when his pride is challenged.
