I found the secret trail that only Coquitlam locals know about 🌲🤫 Baron Place Trailhead — tucked into a quiet residential street in Ranch Park, Coquitlam near Westwood Plateau. No signs inside. No map. No crowds. Just you and pure BC forest. Here is what to expect 👇 🌲 The moment you step in — the city disappears completely. You are surrounded by tall trees and absolute quiet. One local reviewer said it perfectly: “You feel like you’re in your own world.” That is exactly what this trail feels like. ⛰️ Short but STEEP — moderate difficulty, under 1 hour. The slope starts almost immediately and some of the surface is crumbly. This is not a casual walk — but that’s what makes it feel like a real adventure. 🐕 Dog friendly — perfect outback trail for dogs who love to explore 🐦 Great for birdwatching — quiet enough to hear everything around you At the end of the slope you can exit out to a street or turn back the way you came 💡 Pro tips before you go: 👟 Wear shoes with good grip — your ankles need to be ready 🚗 Free street parking right outside ❌ No restrooms on site ❌ No signs or map inside — just follow the path ✅ Go early for the most peaceful experience ✅ Best May to November 📍 Baron Place Trailhead | 1801 Baron Pl, Coquitlam BC Save this and tag a Coquitlam local who needs to know about this 👇🌲 — Baron Place trailhead Coquitlam, secret trails Coquitlam BC, hidden trails Tri-Cities, Ranch Park Coquitlam hiking, Westwood Plateau trails Coquitlam, free hikes Metro Vancouver, dog friendly trails Coquitlam, things to do Coquitlam BC, nature walks Tri-Cities BC, hidden gem Coquitlam, BC forest trails, short hikes Metro Vancouver, quiet trails Coquitlam, Ridge Park trails Coquitlam, explore Coquitlam nature*

Ube honeycomb + earl grey & honey ice cream at Rocky Point Park 🍦🌿 Port Moody really does not miss. Rocky Point Ice Cream This is Rocky Point Ice Cream — a family-run, handcrafted small batch ice cream shop that has been scooping smiles in Port Moody since 1997. Right inside Rocky Point Park on the shores of Burrard Inlet — honestly one of the best settings for an ice cream stop in all of Metro Vancouver. Here’s what I tried 👇 🍠 Ube Honeycomb — creamy, floral purple yam with sweet honeycomb crunch. The colour alone is worth a photo. The taste is even better. 🫖 Earl Grey & Honey — warm earl grey tea infused into a cold scoop with a touch of golden honey sweetness. It sounds unexpected. It tastes absolutely perfect. This one is a must. What makes Rocky Point special: ✅ Handcrafted small batch ice cream — made from scratch using local and organic ingredients ✅ Constantly rotating creative flavours — no two visits are the same ✅ Fresh made waffle cones and bowls — upgrade to a chocolate dipped cone rolled in toppings ✅ Vegan friendly options available 🐶 And yes — they have a DOGGIE CONE. Low fat vanilla with kibbles and a milk bone on top. Your dog deserves it. 📍 Rocky Point Ice Cream | 2800 Murray Street, Port Moody BC ⏰ Open daily 9am–10pm Also at New Westminster | Coquitlam | Port Coquitlam Save this for your next Port Moody walk and tag someone you’d share a scoop with 👇🍦 — Rocky Point Ice Cream Port Moody, handcrafted ice cream Port Moody BC, best ice cream Tri-Cities, ube honeycomb ice cream Vancouver, earl grey honey ice cream BC, Rocky Point Park Port Moody, things to do Port Moody, artisan ice cream Metro Vancouver, family run ice cream shop BC, Port Moody food spots, ice cream near Shoreline Trail, small batch ice cream Vancouver, Port Moody hidden gems, Burrard Inlet Port Moody, explore Port Moody BC

I spent one hour in Snug Cove on Bowen Island and I’m already planning my next trip back 🏝️🌿 You might recognize it from the Netflix series Virgin River — Snug Cove was one of the main filming locations. And in real life? Even more stunning. Here’s everything I did in just one hour 👇 🌸 Arrived to the most beautiful waterfront — lush gardens, a heritage marina, flower-lined boardwalks and boats gently rocking in the water. The Union Steamship Marina is named after the company that made Bowen Island a legendary resort destination all the way back in the 1920s 🦢 Walked to the beach, sat down, and watched baby geese right by the water. Spring on Bowen Island is something else 🛍️ Explored the local gift shop — handcrafted goods and unique island finds you won’t see anywhere else 🍦 Grabbed ice cream at the Union Steamship Company Marina — because obviously 🎨 Discovered the Snug Cove Gateway Mural — a breathtaking community artwork created in 2022 by three local artists, inspired by 125+ suggestions from Bowen Islanders. It features Pacific Northwest wildlife and over a century of island history painted across an entire wall. Don’t miss this 📸 Got the Bowen Island sign photo — mandatory ☕ Ended at a local coffee shop overlooking the marina. Sat with a coffee and watched the boats go by. Honestly perfect Did you know Bowen Island is ranked the fifth most artistic community in Canada? Arts, crafts, galleries and creativity are woven into every corner of this place — and you feel it the moment you arrive 📍 Snug Cove, Bowen Island BC 🚢 BC Ferries from Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver — only 20 minutes 🚶 Snug Cove is fully walkable — no car needed ⚠️ Walk-on passengers: arrive 30–45 minutes before sailing. Vehicles: reserve in advance especially on weekends Tag someone you’d take on the ferry 👇🏝️

There are old mill ruins hiding on a beach in Port Moody and almost nobody knows about it 🌿🏭 Old Mill Site Park — one of the most underrated free parks in Metro Vancouver. No entry fee. No crowds. Just history, nature, and some of the most unique scenery in the Tri-Cities. Here’s the story 👇 In the late 1800s and early 1900s, this stretch of Burrard Inlet’s north shore was home to several busy sawmills — including the Empress Mill, which shipped lumber across Canada and internationally. The McNair Cedar Mill operated here until it was destroyed by fire in 1949. What’s left today? Concrete foundations, old structures, and a beehive burner — all sitting right on the beach. History you can actually walk through and touch. 🥾 What to expect: Two trail options — a lower beach trail along the water and an upper paved trail with elevated views. The whole walk is about 45 minutes and connects to Rocky Point Park on one end and Old Orchard Park on the other — perfect for a longer outing 📸 Photo highlights: ✅ Mill ruins on the beach — stunning at golden hour ✅ Views across Burrard Inlet to Rocky Point and Burnaby Mountain ✅ Tidal waters, mudflats and coastal scenery ✅ Great Blue Heron rookery (best viewed late March to early April from the upper trail) 🦅 Wildlife you might spot: Great blue herons, bald eagles, seals, otters, ducks — and yes, there have been bear sightings too 🐻 ⚠️ Pro tips before you go: 👟 Wear waterproof shoes — the lower trail gets muddy 🚫 Do NOT walk on the mud flats — people can get stuck. If someone does, call 911 immediately 🚗 Free street parking on Murray Street for up to 4 hours 🌅 Go at sunset — the water views are absolutely gorgeous 🔍 Check the tide table if you want to explore the tide pools at low tide 📍 Old Mill Site Park | 538 San Remo Dr, Port Moody BC Near Murray St & Old Mill Rd — along the Shoreline Trail Tag someone you’d explore this with 👇🌿

Great Blue Heron Rookery at Old Mill Site Park 🦢🌿 Here’s what you need to know 👇 Port Moody is home to an active Great Blue Heron colony along the Shoreline Trail at Old Mill Site Park. Every year, 10 to 20 nests are reoccupied or rebuilt in the trees and right now you can see them nesting from the upper trail. These massive, prehistoric-looking birds are one of BC’s most iconic species and watching an entire colony nesting above you is genuinely one of those moments that stops you in your tracks. 🗓️ When to go: Late March to early April is peak nesting season — the best time to see the most activity. The nesting period runs from January 15 to September 15 so there is still time this spring. Go sooner rather than later for the best views. 📍 Where exactly: Take the UPPER trail at Old Mill Site Park — the rookery is best viewed from the elevated path, not the lower beach trail 🦢 Fun facts about Great Blue Herons: 🐟 Their diet is mostly fish — but also includes shellfish, amphibians and small mammals 📏 They are the largest heron in North America — standing up to 4.5 feet tall with a wingspan of nearly 6 feet 🌲 They nest in colonies called rookeries — returning to the same trees year after year 🔇 They are sensitive to noise during early nesting — keep your voice low and give them space ⚠️ Please be respectful: Stay on the trail. Keep noise to a minimum. Do not disturb the nests. These birds return here every single year — let’s make sure they keep coming back. 📍 Old Mill Site Park | Shoreline Trail, Port Moody BC Free parking on Murray Street up to 4 hours Connected to Rocky Point Park and Old Orchard Park Save this and go before the season peaks 👇 Tag someone who needs to see this 🦢 — Great Blue Heron rookery Port Moody, heron nesting colony BC, Old Mill Site Park Port Moody, wildlife Port Moody BC, free wildlife watching Metro Vancouver, Shoreline Trail Port Moody, things to do Port Moody spring, BC wildlife sightings, great blue heron nesting season BC, hidden gem Port Moody, nature walks Tri-Cities BC, bird watching Metro Vancouver, Port Moody nature, explore BC spring, rare wildlife Van
