Caught two exhibitions in Belfast before they close by artists who are members of or have undertaked residencies with Digital Arts Studios (
@das_belfast ).
Firstly, 'Intangible Bodies', by Paul Moore
@paulmoore at
@universityofatypical will close on 28 April. Paul has recently returned from a residency with
@guesthouse_collective in Cork, partnered with
@art.arcadia.ltd in Derry, so it’s really interesting to see how his work across video, sound, and performance continues to explore journeys through borders, technologies, and landscapes.
The exhibition is a projection-mapped installation that turns the gallery into something you move through rather than just look at. The work plays with perception, delay, and attention, layering video footage with 3D models and meshes across four projection surfaces. It suggests experiences of neurodiversity and invisible disability, and I found myself constantly adjusting, trying to locate meaning in something intentionally unstable.
Thanks
@z.lyness for setting things up and the catch-up.
Then I visited 'Blink', DAS Annual Review (closing 25 April) at
@pssquaredbelfast
Featuring work by Alannah Bates (
@alannah.ruth ), Catherine Chapman (
@meminine ), Silvia Koistinen (
@silviakoistinen.art ) Vanissa Law (
@vanissalaw ), and Anna Vidamour (
@anna.vidamour.art ), this show feels like a snapshot of now, even Trump features but can be controlled through gestures. Glitch, drift, fragmentation, but also a reminder that even in all that instability, the body still finds ways to orient itself.
Thanks
@davymahon (project curator at PS²) for the welcome, and Catherine Devlin for keeping me on track as always.
Really proud to be part of
@das_belfast XR Labs and to see such thoughtful, challenging work coming out of the studios.
If you’re nearby, go see these exhibitions before they’re gone next week
