Some news… I’m truly honoured to have been nominated as the next Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast. Growing up in Turflodge, I never dreamt I’d have the chance to represent our city in this way. I’ll continue to be on the ground in communities, tackling the issues people face day in, day out. But this role also gives me a platform - to stand up for those too often left behind and to celebrate everything that makes this city such a special place. Thank you to the people of West Belfast for giving me this opportunity - I won't let you down. Looking forward to getting stuck in!

What if every new housing development in Belfast going forward included space for people to grow their own food? 🌱 Greater access to fresh, healthy, nutritious food for people, families and communities, more green spaces and practical steps to tackle food insecurity and poverty. That’s the proposal I’m bringing to Belfast City Council - to look at how community food-growing spaces can be embedded within our planning process. As a Right to Food City, Belfast has an opportunity to now lead the way. Do you suppprt this? Let me know your thoughts!

It was great to welcome pupils and teachers from local schools to City Hall as they enjoyed performances and workshops from the South-Central Minzu University delegation. A brilliant celebration of culture, language, music and dance for International Chinese Language Day. Great to see young people enjoying it.

Our Foodstock team have been hard at it all weekend preparing for 4,000+ breakfasts for school children this week. We couldn't do this without the community getting behind us week in, week out to ensure that our young people get the best start to their day in class. Thank you All. Community in action! 🤝

A huge thank you to Naomh Gall for organising Hurling for Hunger, and to Naomh Bríd, Naomh Eoin, Loch Mór Gaels and East Belfast for also being involved in this fantastic tournament. An incredible £2,150 was raised to support Foodstock’s work in our communities, helping us provide community meals and breakfast clubs for school children. A further £2,150 was also raised for the Sisters of Charity Missionaries, who do incredible work. This is community solidarity in action - our GAA clubs stepping up, coming together and making a real difference. Go raibh míle maith agaibh to everyone involved. 🤝 #HurlingForHunger #GAA #Community #SolidarityNotCharity

And if you know your history…🍀 On an incredible day when we won a last-gasp title, something powerful stood out on Celtic’s shirt. The National Famine Memorial badge was a quiet but powerful reminder of the club’s strong Irish roots. 🇮🇪 The memory of An Gorta Mór still carries through generations - and today Celtic wore it with honour. Champions again. 🏆
