đ After a summer storm shattered the iconic spectrum-colored windows at @uazflandrau , local glass artist @paulandersstout stepped inârestoring them piece by piece, color by color.
Using vintage tools and salvaged glass, Anders-Stout brought the landmarkâs glow back to life, honoring the legacy of the original 1975 design and preserving the magic for future generations.

The Recycled Glass Workshop was a smashing success! Paul led the students through the process of taking broken bottles of different types and melting them down into a workable Hot Shop material. But the formula needed tweaking, so they changed it with various additives to make it more compatible with the other recycled glass and increase workability. They played with color as well, creating a dramatic black, a bright turquoise, an amber like clear, and a desert green. The students said they learned a lot and really appreciated the process. Paul has been working hard the past six months to help restore a historic part of Tucson. Last summer a storm blew through and destroyed parts of the spectrum colored windows at the Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium. The windows, which have been there since 1975, brought not just a sense of beauty, but also help represent the importance of light and how light can help scientists understand the universe.
