The goal of TESTBED is to foster a meeting group of artists with overlapping practices who can support and push each other.
What is Testbed?
I wanted to create a space for artists working with sound to meet each month to share and discuss their work together. In the hopes that together we can expand our practices and push each other.
TESTBED joins an already rich group of monthly meetups at Kirkos like the Frustrated Writer’s Group, Improv Club, Meitheal Mondays, and Fanvid.
This is a bench we made in December entirely out of materials we already had which was very satisfying!
We wanted to make better use of the space at the back wall for both seating and storage. The bench is also on castor wheels which means we can move it up to the windows for when we open for our library hours (more on this soon!)
It took about a day and a half to make and we got it done just in time for our Xmas party.
Come try it out next time you’re in Kirkos :)
p.s. If you’re a carpenter and have any tips for how we could have done this better please let us know!

🌀 18.11.2024 🌀 5:10pm 🌀 Huddersfield, UK
New work being premiered at @hcmfuk in Huddersfield tomorrow! It doesn’t have a name (suggestions welcome), but it’s got video, lights, music, objects, me talking, and lots of darkness.
My third (?) piece about Bull Island, this time honing in a bit more on ideas from ecological philosophy.
It was all filmed on Bull Island, in the dark, after many hours spent there late at night. Thanks to @magicturd and @cadenza433_ for spending a night with me recording the more difficult shots. Sebastian’s torch work was impeccable and Kevin kept me safe while driving a radioactive car without a license.
p.s if it doesn’t flop maybe I’ll put it on in Unit 44 for Dublin folks x
A few recent books that I wish I could share with Maurice. My first thought anytime I read something that I like is, I must ask Maurice what he thinks of this. He was my litmus test for many things. I feel now more than ever I would connect with him through literature, philosophy, art and I can’t help but feel there were so many interesting conversations we never got to have…
1. A Practical Guide to Levitation - José Eduardo Agualusa
2. The Musical Brain - César Aira
3. All Art is Ecological - Timothy Morton
4. Lines - Tim Ingold
5. Dark Ecology - Timothy Morton
6. Paul Klee Life and Work - Christian Geelhaar
7. Problems of Dostoevsky’s Poetics - Mikhail Bakhtin
