Look what’s arrived! The long-awaited August Jacket is in print. This pattern does double duty as you can make it in a super-thick quilted top, blanket-weight wool or a mid to heavy-weight denim.
With very different finishes and a detailed set of instructions to get the most out of this highly sculptural piece.
We are now wholesale only, in print. You can find us on via FAIRE!
If you want one and don’t have a store, please ask at your local textile haven to bring us in!

Over the summer break I re-upholstered this couch. Originally It was a busted up version of the De Sede 47 leather sofa. (But not quite) We have since extend from 2 to 3 seated and reupholstered twice it’s currently in an 80’s linen ‘Sanderson’ fabric. I had to perform some inventive cutting and pattern and matching to use the limited amount. I love The incongruous botanics x super modern shape. Cosmos approves too.
Back in the studio today and I’m about to cut this spectacular vintage print! It’s paralysingly beautiful, the pressure is on. Making a new style for the range woo hoo😘.
The August Jacket by @patternfantastique is all about silhouette. Reviewed in Threads #232, this loose-fitting design is defined by curved shoulders, oversized sleeves, and a distinctive one-piece sleeve with an overarm seam. With options for faced or bound edges, the jacket benefits from structured fabrics that support its bold, architectural shape.

I didn’t expect this jacket to become one of my absolute November favourites – but here we are.
This is the #AugustJacket by @patternfantastique , sewn from my 5 m denim from @blackbirdfabricsand I love how much range it has: it works as a light jean shirt in spring, as a layering jacket in the in‑between seasons, and as a little statement piece when I want sleeves with drama.
When this pattern was first released I bought it pretty quickly, already knowing I wanted to make it that year – I just couldn’t decide: start with a lighter denim version, or go straight for something quilted and cozy? In the end this denim won, and I’m so glad it did.
The pattern comes with two finishes: one with a facing and one with binding for thicker fabrics. One day, when I find the perfect fabric, I’m definitely making a heavier version as well. It’s honestly one of my favourite patterns in my whole collection, which makes me extra sad that it’s no longer available – I think so many of you would have loved sewing it too.✨

Thank you all so much. The last month has felt like a serenade.
I have received so many lovely emails. It’s been a blast, but it hardly feels over, as we will still be available in print and in stores near you. The August Jacket will go to print very soon with more styles to follow!
The closure of the online store has been in part to create more space and stretch out the Pattern Fantastique studio. You may know us for our home sewing patterns, but PF also offers textile design, commercial pattern making, special made-to-order pieces and branding. Additionally, I have been quietly studying horticulture and landscaping to expand my skill set to include Garden Design. Plants and textiles are fundamentally connected, and this feels like a very natural (all puns intended) addition to what PF is all about.
The website will be paused at 6 pm on Monday AEST; you will still be able to see us, but it won’t be shoppable. Once I have had a rest, the website will be reconfigured to show what we do, stockists, blog posts and a possible rebrand.
I hope you follow along for the ride.
Thanks for the Love,
Nita-Jane
Thank you for your response to my announcement.
20 days to go!
25% - 50% off everything until closure.
I have many lovely messages, and the shop has been bustling.
For those of you who have been experiencing an error in-store or no products available. With a bit of tinkering, it has been resolved. The website is also glitchy when used with an outdated version of Safari, so please try using an updated or alternative browser.
I am no longer shipping retail printed patterns to the EU or the USA. I am still shipping wholesale quantities to the USA. So please visit our stockist page. EU, I’m sorry, I can’t find a viable way with the GSPR rules.
You can purchase PDFs until December 1. I have no plans to sell them elsewhere at this stage.
Please download and store your PDF patterns carefully and as soon as you get them. I will attend to non-viable links for 30 days after their purchase date.
If you need to get in touch, please email me and include your order number with it.

Printed Patterns will continue to be supplied to our stockist either via FAIRE or email order.
Check here for current stockist in the US/CAN, UK, AUS/NZ
If your favourite store doesn’t stock Pattern Fantastique, let them know you want to see us in store.

As of December 1st, the Pattern Fantastique online store will be closed for the foreseeable future. With tariffs and import rules continually changing. I have run out of energy to push through.
All products will be 25-50% off until the online store closes. The discount appears at checkout.
Our wholesale store for printed patterns will remain available on Faire and through direct orders via email.
Pattern Fantastique print will be available at stockists, and we will continue to welcome new stockists. Our patterns are now printed (to order) and shipped via a distributor in Melbourne, Australia.
We ship our international orders via FedEx (with some exceptions), which has streamlined customs clearance.
Thanks to all who bought directly from the website, stuck the PDFs together, sent kind emails, and enjoyed the bit of magic I have tried to imbue in every style. Please find (or request) your PF patterns at a stockist near you, pre-printed, magic intact.
Pattern Fantastique will continue publishing. The studio is expanding into commercial pattern making and multidisciplinary design practice. Stay tuned on our social media for updates. For all inquiries, please email hello@patternfantastique
Thanks,
Nita-Jane
