I've not posted any of my work in a long time. Mostly because it seems very different to what I was doing last year. Instagram wants you to post consistently - and 'consistent' is not how I feel at the moment. I love the linocuts and wood engravings I've done that are based in nature and historic architecture. But as I've pushed myself while starting an art degree, I've also loved delving into abstract work and pieces where the subject is less clear or easy to look at. I'm not sure if these two strands weave naturally together, and I've not been sure how to share that. I think they have shared motivations, but it's not that clear to me what they are, yet. Whatever I'm doing, every piece that I share is something that comes from a love for what I can do and think and express. I'll try and share a bit more often, I'm still here! #artprint #workinprogress #artstudent #originalart

Good set! If last year taught me anything, it's that you all love badgers. Especially badgers with musical talent. I had a lovely time designing and carving a new little badger band - introducing the fiddle player! A 2-colour linocut hand printed on lovely Somerset Velvet paper. Available to buy from my online shop or Vinted page (links in bio). #linocut #folkart #britishwildlife #badger #badgerart

I can never predict when or how some of my linocut prints will connect with people. But I love when they find homes with people who appreciate them. In 2025 I met lots of wonderful folk at art markets, which was my main way of selling work. In 2026 I'd like to start sharing more of my work online. It's hard work, but worth it. #linocut #independentartist #printmaking #ursulaleguin #earthsea

Ceramics: slab building "As I went out to hunt and all, I met a Wren upon the wall...". My little homage to the king of the birds. I love the effect of the earthy glazes.

Print: drypoint and tetrapak. I loved trying out drypoint, and experimenting with the different atmosphere you can create depending on how you wipe back the ink. Then applied what I'd learnt to making some tetrapak Christmas cards...

I made a book plate, combining my wood engraving with letterpress. I learnt a lot doing this, namely: 1. I can't believe the focus and patience of printers pre digital age, whole newspapers arranged and printed by hand. 2. You need to be patient and prepared to solve problems, because it may not come out how you want it the first time! 3. Things that look robust, like wood blocks and metal type, are quite delicate and the difference between a patchy and good print can be down to fractions of a millimeter of pressure. I'll definitely try letterpress soon - I really want to play with some big, bold type! #letterpress #woodengraving #artprocesses

3 hours of sketching at Wells Cathedral. Wells has a presence to it that's both ancient and timeless. The cathedral and many of its artefacts are 700+ years old. But they're not hidden away for protection, they're still in use. From the astronomical clock that predates Galileo (!!) to the stone steps of the chapterhouse, it's still a living, breathing building. Not quite sure what will come out of this trip yet, but lots of lovely details to think about... #historicenglishchurches #englishchurches #wellscathedral #sketchbook
