Local Service by Familiar Faces at Patrick’s Pet Care Will Continue Under New Leadership
Patrick’s Pet Care (Brookland) announced a leadership transition that places the company in the capable hands of longtime team member Rebeca Reyes Mejia.
“Today I’m excited to formally acknowledge what has been the case for some time,” said founder Patrick Flynn. “Patrick’s Pet Care is Rebeca’s company now.” Rebeca is widely regarded within the company as an inspiring leader whose compassion for people and animals is matched by a shrewd business sense and the eye of a very talented artist. Her journey with Patrick’s Pet Care began in 2018, when she joined the company as a dog walker. From the start, she distinguished herself with an unprecedented work ethic and an unwavering devotion to quality care, leading to rapid advancement.
“In the current circumstances, it means so much to me to see that Patrick’s Pet Care made the American dream possible,” Flynn said. “And I’m not just talking about me. Even more meaningful is that I can turn the reins over to the most talented and hardest-working person I know, who happens to be a woman and an immigrant.”
For clients and community members alike, the message is simple: the familiar faces, values, and commitment to exceptional care that have defined Patrick’s Pet Care will continue.

Say hello to Alfie, this is his very first groom and he did a great job! He’s a great example of early positive experiences to build off of as he gets older! We practice the whole process, including the infamous bath and dry, for a pup with this much fur, he’ll need a lot of grooming mainly brushing so its best we make the experience something he can look forward to!
The best way to finish a day of great effort was having a play session filled with cheese and rough housing. A successful first day!

So many people were rooting for Janis —a young husky rescued by our Humane Protection Team from an abandoned apartment, tied to a door knob, underweight and sitting in her own waste— and we are ✨thrilled✨ to share that her fresh start has blossomed into the life she always deserved!
Now named Sora, she is thriving in her new home. Her adopter tells us that Sora is the sweetest, gentlest girl, and she’s already gathered a small fan club in her neighborhood. She adores tummy rubs and will immediately roll onto her back the moment she decides someone is trustworthy. Sora melts into any bit of affection she’s offered, and watching her open up has been grounding and incredibly rewarding for her family, who say they’re the lucky ones.
In reality, we are lucky. Lucky that the caring staff at @patrickspetcare donated a groom for Sora (and many other HRA rescues) to bring her white coat back to life. Lucky to have such dedicated Humane Protection Officers, staff, and volunteers (especially our Humane Protection volunteers). And so lucky to have such wonderful adopters and to be part of a strong rescue community.
From a tough beginning to a life filled with comfort, care, and unwavering love — Sora is our very #HappyTail this week!
(P.S. Sora's intake name was in honor of #JanisJoplin and was given to her by the Officer who rescued her!)
