We are happy to announce two new coffees in the "Dunham Special Reserve" line. These two are very special beans. Working directly with Ethiopian growers and importers we have secured a reliable supply of Ethiopian Harrar. This is a dark roast and incredibly complex. The "El Angel" is our first truly light roast and has a gorgeous fruity acidity. You can learn more about both here: /collections/seasonal
This will be the last week that this incredible coffee from Haiti will be available online. Sadly with the very unfortunate situation in Haiti currently I am not sure if any coffee will make it out of the country this year. This is one of my all time favourites and as soon as I can buy from the farmers again I will.
Hello everyone.
It has been a challenging year for all small business and it does not look like it is getting easier in the short term. Coffee prices have continued to increase as well as all fixed costs.
To get the bad news out of the way I have to change some things at Patricks Beans. I have spent the last few weeks looking deeply into the coffee market in Ontario comparing costs, pricing and pack size. I have decided to reduce the amount of coffee per bag from 454 grams to 400 grams. On top of this there will be a small price increase on the website and at retailers. I did not want to reduce the pack size more as there I share the concern for value per dollar spent right now. After a lot of consideration I think this is the best solution for Patricks Beans.
Other pack sizes will stay the same however the pricing will be adjusted.
Decaffeinated coffee costs have increased more than regular coffee prices. For you decaf lovers it will be more of an increase.
This has been a very hard decision to make but otherwise Patricks Beans would have to close. A lot of roasters have started using or increasing the ratios of very low quality beans to keep their costs down. These ungraded beans are very cheap in comparison but very horrible tasting. I have also been buying the bulk of my beans as you know from the same cooperative in Guatemala for the entire time of Patricks Beans and even before going back 17 years. This is a relationship I take seriously and value. The CCDAs coffee is excellent and it is funding very important work to improve the lives of the farmers and their communities. The CCDAs pricing has raised considerably since last year due to climate change and increased export costs on their end.
Quality and honest relationships are not something I will sacrifice at Patricks Beans. I know these changes are a lot but I hope you will still enjoy your favourite Patricks Beans coffee in the morning.
Great news!!! Patricks Beans is now available in Mount Brydges. Sunshine Bakery carries Velvet Hammer, Cups of Anarchy, our decaf and espresso. Pick up some of thier baked goods also.
What a great birthday present for me today. The coffee stand looks professional for the first time ever. Today we are serving for the 5th year at the Fanshawe Dragon Boat Races. The event I look forward to the most throughout the year.

Green bean day today. From my favourite cooperative the CCDA another 40 bags of Cafe Justicia arrived. Beautiful new burlap design. This is enough to last a couple of months then one more large order to finish up the year. It has been almost 20 years of working with the CCDA in Guatemala and I am looking forward to another 20.
One of the best thank you cards i have ever recieved. Certainly the largest. Thanks you Sanctuary London for letting me into your community. It has been great.
