I am happy about my solo show A GLANCE AT THE NOSE at @galeriesophiavonier . The show is on view until march 9, 2024 also a big thank you to @tiacicek for the great text. ”(…) More recently, however, Scherer incorporated painting, though his approach remains as clear and focused as ever. He avoids the allure of free strokes and thick layers of paint, using paint instead to create a more graphic finish that offers additional room for exploration within his distinctive style. And unifies the various objects he encounters and subconsciously finds intriguing. All the while venturing beyond the intimate, challenging himself to create more significant formatted works that defy the traditional perception of pencil drawings. In his own words, Scherer’s creative process involves solving a complex puzzle. Each drawing is an intricate composition, a meticulously orchestrated cascade of domino effects. [Link in bio] Am 23. April eröffnete Patrick Roman Scherer @patrickromanscherer seine Solo-Ausstellung „Taking the side of things“ im @davy.art.space in Wien — noch zu sehen bis 16. Mai. A visit to the studio of @patrickromanscherer You don’t expect much from a printer, a tennis racket, a shelf. And yet, in Patrick Roman Scherer’s work, these things begin to shift. At the core of his practice is drawing. With pencil on paper, he builds dense, precise worlds shaped by subtle contrasts and disruptions. He returns to everyday objects — things usually overlooked — and brings them into focus. Removed from their context and transformed through scale and repetition, they begin to lose their familiarity and take on a different kind of weight. Lines gather around them, overlapping and unfolding into intricate structures that echo sacred imagery, Gothic ornament or the richness of woven tapestries. And the drawing itself doesn’t stay where you expect it to. What begins on paper extends into space, linking works, shaping rhythms, and unfolding into a composition that stretches across the room. Come and see Patrick Roman Scherer’s new work in his upcoming solo exhibition at Davy Art Space, opening April 23. #PatrickRomanScherer #ContemporaryDrawing #StudioVisit #ViennaArt #DavyArtSpace
