Continuing the silent film series in Evergreen with a bold journey to the unknown in the 1929 Russian experimental masterpiece Man With A Movie Camera. Thrilled to be joined by Braxton Kahn on drums for this one. We're gonna improvise some ambient grooves.
Voted the greatest documentary OF ALL TIME in Sight & Sound, this movie pioneered so many cinematic techniques: multiple exposure, fast motion, slow motion, freeze frames, match cuts, jump cuts, split screens, dutch angles, extreme close-ups, tracking shots, reversed footage, animation...whew. It's...rad.

This Friday night! I'm playing an original score on piano for Harold Lloyd's classic 1927 silent film Speedy - it's a great one, w/ wild scenes of the rides at 1920's Coney Island, numerous car / horse chases through the streets of NYC, and even a cameo from Babe Ruth himself.
