Book design for @centrecentrebooks @vintage_matchboxco Matchbook Book presents ephemera from the Billy Woods collection. Featuring over 250 images of matchbooks collected between the 1970s and late 1990s, the book traces a portrait of Britain through pubs, tandoori houses, travel agents, nightclubs and appliance repair shops. Once every business would compete to have its brand in our pockets, these small artefacts now serve as a record of places long gone, cigarettes smoked and conversations once had. The compact book renders its matchbooks at actual size and is encased in a reference to the format contained within a glossy red sleeve folded and finished with the signature of the matchbook.  Collection by @vintage_matchboxco Matchbook photography by @lauraknoxphotography Printed by @gwasggomerpress Typeface ”Label” by @souvenir_typefaces Book photography by @craeftstudio

Last year I had the honour of creating the branding for the reinvention of the legendary shop and fashion brand, Granny Takes a Trip. This year @whiterabbitbks and @_paul_gorman_ asked me to design a book on the history of Granny, another honour and a lot of fun. 304 pages, illustrated with archival images of the shop, principal players and the clothes themselves, this book concludes with a 48-page tour through the @therollingstones wild wardrobe of sartorial delights tailored and sold in the original shop.

Sleeve Notes for @centrecentrebooks by @dominiquerussellprojects Sleeve Notes presents 150 fan-made inner record sleeves, dating between 1950 and 2000 and collected by Crazy Beat Records – a local second-hand music store in Essex. Celebrating the passion and creativity of music lovers, the collection foregrounds historic fans’ dedication to physical media. Preserving a pre-internet era of devotion, the meticulous tributes of Sleeve Notes recall a time when music ownership was sealed with a fan’s own handiwork. Sleeve Notes features sleeves photographed by artist and documentarian Dominique Russell, alongside a foreword by her father Kevan Russell of Crazy Beat Records and the collection’s originator.
