When Patrick Dangerfield handed over the keys to Julia Green, a woman with a well-documented inability to approach colour cautiously, it was probably clear the house wasn’t going to stay monochrome for long.
Pat’s home was architecturally beautiful and very committed to neutrals, which he and his family had lived with with for years. They had always talked about bringing in more colour, but like most people, weren’t quite sure where to start.
Julia, meanwhile, was enthusiastically waving around @duluxaus Colour Cards which in hindsight, was a fairly obvious warning sign. What started as a plan to rework the study quickly turned into no wall untouched and a full home colour makeover.
It kicked off with warm oak timber panelling and Dulux New Penny across the walls and ceiling, which felt considered, if not slightly brave, and from there it unravelled in the best possible way. One room led to another, and before long Dulux Clay Pipe Half and Dulux New Penny were making themselves at home throughout.
The house feels completely different now. Warmer, cosier, and far more like the people who live in it.

When Pat met Julia.
The brief was simple, however the shift was anything but. What was once a beautifully built, monochromatic home hadn’t quite caught up with the personalities living inside it. It felt considered, but cautious. Like so many homes built through that COVID period, the structure was there, but the soul was still waiting. Pat and his family had always loved colour, they just needed the confidence to bring it in. We started small with the study, but it didn’t take long before the entire home caught the colour bug.
At Pat’s request, one of our first stops was GlobeWest, a brand he already knew and trusted for its style and quality. This time, we approached it with texture, tone and colour leading the way. That day of selecting furniture was a turning point. There was a real ease, a reassurance that everything would come together beautifully. It was a permission slip in real time. What followed was a transformation layered with warmth, personality and depth. To say the Dangerfields will live happily ever after almost feels like an understatement.

Well, about the last 18 months really.
When you’ve got a client who could’ve easily been an architect (but happens to be one of the best footballers in the country instead… oh well) and another who happily embraces the full rainbow, you know you’re in for a good time.
Pat and Mardi Dangerfield came to me with big ideas, great instincts for their home , and the kind of openness that makes my job an absolute joy . I just helped steer the ship (and maybe waved a few colour swatches around with courage conviction and a few tantrums 🤣).
What followed? Lots of laughs, proper collaboration, and a shared commitment to evolving an already beautiful home by layering in colour, texture and personality to shift things up a gear for this gorgeous fam bam.
And of course, none of it happens without the absolute legends behind the scenes — the trades, suppliers and assists who bring it all to life! ( who will all be tagged in the reveals !)
This is just the beginning…
plenty more of this transformation to come. Turns out the Dangerfields are a fair bit more than just the brand footy — proper lovers of great design and not afraid to back it.
No wonder I love them.
