Dressed up to celebrate the incredible artists of off-broadway this season. Ran into an old co-worker. Accidentally left @leamichele hanging on stage. All in all 10/10 night! Thanks @offbroadwayleague and congrats to all the nominees!
#ThePitt actor #PatrickBall broke down in tears while revealing the show got him out of $80,000 worth of student loan debut.
“I paid off my student loans like three months into ‘The Pitt,’ and that was a really profound moment because I thought I was gonna die with it. It’s a huge burden to carry, and a lot of people carry it. I was $80,000 in debt and I had been through a series of failed relationships where my financial insecurity was a real problem. I had just thought that was going to be my life forever, and that is a really heavy thing to live with.”
Patrick Ball’s journey to Broadway reads like one of the spiraling epics of lore he’s helped usher onto stage. There was a sports injury that led to college theater, arrests, trips around and around the country with regional productions, flirtations with the FBI, running dresses for Sarah Jessica Parker, and then a sudden, atmospheric rise as a doctor on HBO’s medical hit ‘The Pitt.’
This week, Ball made his Broadway debut in Second Stage’s ‘Becky Shaw,’ and we sat down with him for a full rundown of his journey from North Carolina to Times Square, his musings on American theater’s next era, and his thoughts on all the ‘Pitt’ fans waiting for him at stage door.
