The Future of Sidewinder CCR arrives in Europe - KISS Sidewinder 2 Training: Instructor Crossovers & MOD 1 | Poland
From August 1st to September 17th, the Via Sport Diving Marina „Koparki” Jaworzno quarry in Poland transforms into the official European hub for KISS Rebreathers. This intensive, multi-week training operation is designed for instructors and divers across Europe ready to master the newly CE-certified SIDEWINDER 2.
Led by our Training Director, @patrick_widmann , this is the largest Sidewinder 2 training block of the year, bringing together elite knowledge and the next generation of CCR technology.
For details, technical requirements, and planning, please contact:

This is more than training, it’s the evolution of the KISS community in Europe.
Following the evolution of the Sidewinder 2 in Europe. Stay tuned for updates from the field!
Backmount to sidemount — nothing changes but the configuration.
The Sidewinder 2 is designed to adapt.
Minimal parts.
Logical conversion.
No extra complexity.
Same fundamentals.
Different application.

Sidemount on the Sidewinder 2 — stripped down to what actually matters.
Minimal components = minimal complexity.
No excess. No unnecessary steps.
From packed to dive-ready in minutes.
No tools. No force. No friction.
Light to travel.
Easy to build.
Effortless to dive.
Safety through simplicity.

Cruising shallow. Effortless control.
Backmount on the Sidewinder 2 — stripped down to what actually matters.
Small internal volume = minimal buoyancy change.
Less expansion. Less compression.
Buoyancy stays incredibly easy to control — even in the shallowest water.
Counterlung exactly where it should be — at your center of gravity.
Inhale. Exhale. Hold your breath.
Your trim doesn’t move. Not even a fraction.
And despite the compact volume…
3.5 kg of absorbent paired with the patented cross-flow canister design makes overbreathing a non-issue.
Stable. Predictable. Silent.
This is what diving should feel like.

Building the Sidewinder 2 in backmount configuration from scratch — and showing how little it actually takes.
Few components.
Fast assembly.
No strength required.
A system designed to be light, compact, and effortless to travel with — without sacrificing capability.
Less parts means less complexity.
Less complexity means a shorter checklist.
And that leads to what really matters: safety through simplicity.
What starts on the bench comes together in minutes…
and disappears just as easily in the water.
Streamlined.
Balanced.
Natural.
The SW2 backmount — built with intention, proven where it counts.

Who says a rebreather has to feel “technical”?
Single tank configuration on the Sidewinder 2 — recreational dive with Lucie.
Compact. Balanced. No unnecessary bulk.
Very comparable to a classic single tank OC setup in both weight and profile.
But the difference?
• Ultra stable trim
• Effortless neutral buoyancy
• Absolute silence
No exhaust bubbles means marine life stays calm — and suddenly you’re not an intruder anymore… you’re just part of the water.
That’s the magic.

First time putting two divers on the Sidewinder 2 for a try dive —
in both the sidemount and the backmount configuration.
No class. No long briefing. Just real underwater experience.
Watching them settle in within minutes — natural, controlled, confident — and seeing those huge smiles after the dive…
That’s when years of development, setbacks, redesigns, testing, and doubt simply disappear.
Gratitude.
Excitement.
And the quiet confirmation that we built something truly special.
And yes — even a blown DIN O-ring on my oxygen first stage (with the full bubble soundtrack that comes with it) couldn’t take away from the moment. 😄

Cave explorer Patrick Widmann dives in the most extreme environments, but never stops practicing fundamentals like buoyancy control. He credits dedicated skill practice, along with physical and mental preparation, for allowing him to advance safely and methodically in caves — pushing a little further each time he returns.
On The DANcast, Patrick discusses his extensive expedition diving, including his team’s discoveries of vast submerged cave systems in Madagascar. He also shares his journey as co-owner of ProTec Dive Centers, co-creator of the xDEEP Stealth 2.0 sidemount system, and training director at KISS Rebreathers.
