LSFest Texas weekend recap.
First off the NEW BTR canted valve heads performed outstanding and by far met my expectations. Power thru the whole RPM range it felt like. The car felt great all weekend.
Now for the results. Finished 2nd overall this year up against Seans awesomely fast 69 Camaro. I will catch that thing one day. I slowly was closing the gaps in the autocross #1 and 3S challenge but I fell short in both and was solidly in the 2nd spots.
I knew the overall final score was going to come down to the drag racing times and the heartbreaker pit lane drag strip struck again. Finished 3rd. A little more than .150 of a second would have put me in 1st and a even tie overall but Sean would have taken the overall win due to him winning the tie breaker. That's racing and good racing at that! Next time tho!

It's an engine again! This swap fought me the whole way on just silly things really.
Definitely sounds like its hitting harder! Must be the generous bump in compression the new #BTR #briantooleyracing cylinder heads gave me.

FINALLY making some progress on the canted valve BTR head swap after pulling the threads out the block in one of the rear bolt holes last week. I built this engine and had the heads off previously with no problem but this time they just decided to let leave the chat. Never had that happen. Repaired and going back together in time for LSFEST Texas in two weeks. Can't wait.

FINALLY after running stock LS3 heads on my engine I'm at the point where I can make purchases like these NEW BTR canted valve LS heads that just dropped. Full CNC along with a smaller chamber will give me better flow and about a full point in compression. Uses hollow LT valves on the intake side. Super cool pieces.
Wife approved me making the car faster after last month's Optima event 😄

Last weekend recap.
Was finally able to run my first Optima Ultimate Street Car event at G2 Motorsports Park in Anna, TX.
The car was running pretty good Saturday mornings autocross sessions. Speed stop challenge in the afternoon the car started to feel a little off and not its usual self but still managed to complete the session. Ended up in the grass backwards at one point 😬.
Sunday was road course action all day and the design and engineering segment of the event.
Road course was a total heartbreaker. Car just wouldn't pull out of the corners and felt down on power. Definitely had a driveline vibration at arpund 100mph and up. Car topped out right at 130 on the long straight. Was also the car and my first time on an actual road course so I learned a lot about what the car needs as well as myself.
Thought I would bomb D&E but did better than i expected haha.
Finished the weekend mid pack in 10th place overall. Can't wait for the next one at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama in September.
Plenty time to prep the car.
Post race inspection revealed that I was losing fuel pressure most of the weekend. Fuel pressure was sitting at 49 PSI so I need to address why that is occurring. Also discovered I threw the crankshaft bolt for the SECOND time. I thought I heard something hit the bottom of the car on but thought it was just some debris from a Camaro that lost its splitter that I had run over. Turns out it was the crankshaft bolt.
Overall not bad for my first event at this level and had a great time seeing familiar and faces I haven't seen in a while.

Day one of racing at Optima Ultimate Street Car @ G2 Motorsports Park in Anna,TX.
Car is running great. Fast autocross course action this morning. Sitting 6th in that portion againt the heavy hitters.
Speed stop challenge coming up this afternoon. Let's see what kind of improvement we can do time wise.

Rain interrupted the fun all day today Saturday and since I was at the top of the class at the end of the day yesterday I take the W.
Tom definitely brought some heat with the Chevelle and we traded 1st and 2nd place a few times. At one point only .001 of a second separated us. Good racing!
Car felt great with the changes made. Previous front grip issues were addressed but that then moved the problem to the rear with the rear wanting to rotate/oversteer too much. Made a couple adjustments on shock settings and BAM it came alive and I was able to drop considerable time.
Now to prep for next week's Optima Ultimate Street Car at G2 Motorsports Park in Anna,TX.

Small street machine class today but the car is working good with the changes I made.
Adjustment to brake bias to help sort out the new #Wilwood BP-28 brake pads and some shock tuning and tire pressure adjustments are helping sort the different handling characteristics of the wider front tires.

FINALLY got around to widening my front wheels so I can run a wider tire. The 255 wide tires aren't gonna cut it no more. I can get the front end to plant but at the trade of losing more speed than I'd like to. This should help carry a bit more speed.

Finally got around to replacing the stock Z06 LS7 clutch in the Nova. Did run an aluminum flywheel with it tho for some weight loss. Moving up to a #Centerforce twin disc unit. Hopefully this will manage and help put some power down.
