Every communicator has an origin story.
Mine went from onions, to Attenborough.
Let me explain.
My journey into science storytelling started at my after-school science club.
One overcast winter evening, we learned how to extract DNA… from an onion! 🧅
My mind was blown!
For the first time, science felt real. Tangible.
And, well… cool.
That spark set me on a path, from studying Cancer Biology to earning a master’s in Science Communication…
…and eventually becoming a tea-making runner for music videos, daytime TV shows, and, finally, wildlife documentaries.
Those early jobs taught me the power of observation: watching legends like Steve Backshall, Gordon Buchanan, and, of course, the legend himself, Sir David Attenborough, in action.
I worked on three of Sir David’s series, including ‘60 Years in the Wild’.
That experience taught me something priceless:
When we communicate clearly, and tap into that joyful, childlike curiosity, science starts to feel more like a portal.
A gateway, into a magical world full of possibilities✨
That’s what I strive to help people experience now.
Whether I’m up on stage, on the big screen, or creating books and audios, my goal is always that same:
Bottle up the wonder of how the world works, and turn it into stories that help people feel alive.
What’s your “lightbulb moment”? 💡
