This sunday, my hometown of Innsbruck will elect the new city council and the new mayor. There is a real chance for a better, a greener, a more open and diverse city, where we share and really make use of the (little, public) space that is left in between these high mountains and the walled and fenced private properties. (I'd like to think tearing some of these private walls down would be possible too.) Unfortunately, there is also a very real danger that the extreme right will win and turn this city into a place I don't want to call my home anymore. So, all the more, to spread some ideas and hopefully inspire everybody in Innsbruck to engage politically or socially, for the environment or for arts and culture, for whatever makes life beautiful and worth living, the @battlegroup_for_art_ asked me to design a poster that would provide a different perspective, beyond the person-and-shallow-slogans-driven election campaigning. I really do hope lots of people in Innsbruck will go and vote. Vote for culture, wähle Kultur! . Given everything that’s going on right now and more than 2,000 years of patriarchy — especially men’s discrimination against women — I wanted to use my voice through my drawing to make a statement. Now you can enjoy your coffee and grilled cheese sandwich while being constantly reminded of what it means to be a decent man. Zum 10-Jahres-Jubiläum des bilding, der Kunst- und Architekturwerkstatt, in Innsbruck erscheint eine umfangreiche Publikation. Zwanzig Autor:innen und Gesprächspartner:innen bringen interdisziplinäre Sichtweisen aus der Baukultur, Pädagogik und Kunsttheorie, der Neurowissenschaft und Kreativitätsforschung, dem Handwerk, der Architektur und der Bildungsphilosophie ein, die eine gemeinsame Idee umkreisen und Teil eines größeren Diskurses werden. Gegliedert in zehn thematische Hefte schaffen sie für die im bilding gelebte Praxis ein Fundament aus Theorien und stellen auf diese Weise seine Methode zur Verfügung. Gemeinsam ist allen Beiträge dieses diskursiven und sinnlichen Kompendiums, dass sie die gesellschaftliche Relevanz kreativer Freiräume erforschen und in persönlichen Geschichten, Projekten und Werkstatterfahrungen die Methoden und Denkansätze aus der bilding-Praxis sichtbar machen. Das Buch ist Rückblick, Statement und Inspiration zugleich – für alternative Bildungskonzepte und wertschätzende Gestaltungsprozesse mit Kindern und Jugendlichen.
