Throw Back Thursday post. A year ago today I turned in my badge and ID.
I didn’t tell anyone or make some announcement. I paid the man $209.68 for my Beretta, he handed me a retired ID card and the original ID I started with. I crutched my way back to the elevator and out the back door of Headquarters.
I saw a few people on the way out and I said hi and smiled.
I am blessed for the experiences that I had. I met so many absolutely incredible people. My career opened my eyes to parts of this world that I never would have seen, being a small town farm kid growing up.
I believed in justice, rules, policy and right vs wrong. I believed in the constitution and the legal process. I worked hard to be the professional that is required to police in such a unique city as Los Angeles.
Unfortunately late in my career I was exposed to the truth. There is no law, there is justice, there is no policy or procedure for a select few. They can violate any law, and policy any moral code with absolute impunity.
Being involved in the largest department scandal since the Rampart incident, I watched with my eyes how it all went down and how it was handled by the organization. I watched great men being destroyed. I watched terrible men who violated the law, the constitution, policy, procedure and basic human decency be protected and promoted. And unfortunately they are still playing their same games today.
Watching and experiencing how the full weight of the department can be used to crush good men was terrifying.
I thank God for removing me from the life I was living. Even though I’ve been crippled and live in constant pain all day every day, I now understand that this was his was of removing me from the evil that was happening.
I love the Department. I love the 99% of the men and women in the department. I will always support and be a champion for the good ones.
But turning a blind eye to the cancer that is growing inside the department isn’t going to help it. It needs to get cut out and eradicated for the health of everyone else.
Thank you to all my friends who have supported me along the way. Thank you to all the people I had the honor of serving.
Have a blessed day.
Magazine extension testing continues.
Quick video of the new extensions being run in the 2011 HD P4.5. Target is 7 yards, 1 second face time, shooting doubles.
Side note on speed / accuracy. If you watch the video you will hear me call a shot outside of the 10 ring and where it hit. A lot of people see shooting at this pace and think it isn’t accurate or there isn’t a sight picture. That’s is 100% not the case. I know we’re the shot landed on every one of these presses. Speed and accuracy are not mutually exclusive.
Train hard. Select quality equipment.

Testing the new mag extensions for the HD 2011’s. So far functioning 100%. Slide locked back every time, and dropped free clean. I intentionally let them fall to the ground every time.
The shooting was 7yards, from the holster with a 1 second face time target. The gun, optic, holster and ammo all worked together to make this look easy. The reality is that it’s not easy. If any of the fundamental breaks down there is a miss or the target faces away before the shot can break.
Train hard. Whatever you shoot, drill the fundamentals until you can perform them on demand 24/7/365.

Testing out the new +2 mag extensions for the HD 2011’s.
These are really nice on the guns with the mag wells. It makes positive insertion way easier and if the mag gets stuck, it provides purchase on the mag to strip it from the gun.
The mags work in the smaller C4X and C3.6 also. So far they have functioned 100% and got lock back every time. I’ll work on building a round count on these this month.
Train hard. Try to help others.
