Chicago will be in the house at Atlanta’s Mason Fine Art opening May 29 featuring the work of John Simmons along with Robert “Bobby” Sengstake and Vivian Maier. The images pictured are by John Simmons. He will give an Artist Talk on Saturday, May 30 from 1-3PM. Born and raised in Chicago,John Simmons came of age at the height of the politically charged, artistically fluent 1960s. His talent as a photographer was identified and nurtured by Robert “Bobby” Sengstacke who ushered him into his early years of publishing his photographs and to his formal education in art and photography as an undergraduate. His next educational milestone was studying cinematography at USC and moving to Los Angeles where he currently resides. John is a working cinematographer, carries his still camera with him everywhere he goes and continues to mentor and be inspired by the life around him. His photographs are held in the collections of the (Getty Museum) Harvard Art Museums; the High Museum of Art, Atlanta; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Center for Creative Photography; American Society of Cinematographers; and the David C. Driskell Center, University of Maryland.

@icartpierrestudios_ Opening April 10 from 6-9pm @masonfineart Jean Patrick Icart-Pierre Jean Patrick Icart-Pierre is a Haitian-born, Georgia-based multidisciplinary artist whose work navigates the intersections of struggle, resilience, and cultural identity. His practice spans painting, sculpture, and installation, often appropriating everyday objects—hoodies, sneakers, durags, neon signage, grease-stained brown paper bags, and discarded Nike and Air Jordan boxes—to transform them into symbolic statements that challenge stereotypes, disrupt narratives, and confront power structures. Icart-Pierre earned his BFA from The Cooper Union in 1988, and later completed both an MA (2002) and MFA (2007) at Brooklyn College. In the early 1990s, he was an artist-in-residence at The Bronx Museum, where his practice began to merge social critique with poetic materiality. He has since exhibited widely, including participation in Open at the Brooklyn Museum, and his work has been reviewed in New York Newsday and international newspapers in Kenya. Opening Friday, April 10 @masonfineart in Atlanta!
