OGR-091 /// Pastel - A Lovers Manifesto /// gold cassette w/ paper label /50
A project that has seen much change in sound, growth, and lineups during its decade long duration - the latest 6 song offering from the Bari, Italy based group Pastel has been cooking these tracks all the way back to 2018 before finally bringing them to the studio in 2025. Insanely tight synchronized melodic emo influenced math rock with so many fun & memorable moments stashed throughout its run time for multiple repeat listens to catch something new each time. It goes through cycles of soft ambient emo tapping to aggressive punk/post hardcore sounding approaches in the snap of a finger to hold your attention for the full run time. Happy to be bringing physicals of this special release to the US for your listening pleasure!
"Their listening habits remain scattered and wide — free jazz, ambient, hip hop, noise, classical, grind, trap — without hierarchy. That openness shows up in the way the songs refuse to settle into a single identity. Outside of music, Pesce points to long walks by the sea, cinema, and improvisation as equally present influences, citing Federico Fellini’s “8½,” David Byrne’s “How Music Works,” and Alfa Mist’s “Structuralism” as recent touchpoints." - Karol Kamiński, Idioteq.com

Pastel’s “A Lovers Manifesto” is out today, closing a long, uneven chapter for the Bari emo/math rock band after years of lineup shifts, stalled momentum, and songs that first took shape back in 2018.
Written by Vito Pesce and arranged with Andrea Annese, the record was recorded and mixed by Michele Valente at M.A.T. Studio in Terlizzi between April and November 2025, then mastered by Jesse Germanò at Jedi Studio in Rome in January 2026.
Across six tracks — from the sharper melodic pull of “Pettirosso” to the restless, shape-shifting “Today? Mayday!” and the Monk tribute “Thelonious” — Pastel keep stretching their language without dropping the instinct that got them here in the first place.
Out via Slow Down Records, Dischi Decenti, Vina Records and Pastel, with artwork by Gianluca Lonigro.
3 aprile.
Torniamo a farci sentire.
E questa volta, davvero. ✨

A volte una canzone arriva piano, altre volte veloce.
Poi apre le ali.
“Pettirosso” è il primo segnale di qualcosa che abbiamo costruito con il cuore, per anni.
