A timely article from @hadjaumufofana__ on representation in the Scottish Parliament. “Sitting in that room, I was reminded that representation is not just about who is present but about how their presence is understood.” Read in full - link in bio. Thanks @bellacaledonia for publishing.

Since 9am today when coverage started we’ve seen two women of colour giving their insights to the most important moment in the Scottish political calendar; our founder Talat Yaqoob, and Model and actor, Eunice Olumide. We can and should see more of us giving our expertise across channels and newspapers throughout the election period. As with the last two elections Pass The Mic and @strath_gender are working together to do media monitoring and we will be publishing the full data on how many women of colour were sharing their opinions or expertise across Scottish media over the last 3 weeks. Watch this space.

And another new article!! Bamidele Bamgbopa writes about her being a mother and carer - and how a carers centre changed her life for the better. Scotland must invest fully in these support systems so that carers have spaces that care for them too. Read in full in the @scotnational @carers_uk @mecopp_carers @coalition_of_carers

Are you registered to vote in the Scottish Parliament elections? Our founder @talat_yaq talks through who can vote, how you register, and why this election matters. We have witnessed the rise of bigotry and disinformation which are disproportionately targeting our communities and making us less safe. Hostile actions are using this political moment and we must use our vote and our voices to stand against the hate of the far-right.

Genuinely such a pleasure to organise the first (of hopefully many) low-key coffee hang outs with the @passthemicscot gang 💕 When you're in predominately white spaces for a long time, it's easy to forget the power of being in community with those who share your experiences 😌 DM the PTM Instagram to join the next Pass The Mic hangout!

It’s #internationalwomensday #iwd but this isn’t about “celebration” it’s about protest and action, it isn’t just a day, it’s an ongoing commitment. This IWD use this moment to support and amplify Pass The Mic and women of colour.
