Hi! Maybe you’re new here or maybe you’ve known me for a long time, either way, thank you for giving me any amount of your time. You may know me as Elizabeth, Liz, Lizzy, Lizardbreath, babe (my husband only), or for three precious humans, Mom.
I gotta say, I felt a special kind of strength going through my third pregnancy while continuing to gig almost every weekend. I’m not a big time artist or anything, but I’m so grateful for the people of Malibu, Cornell, Agoura, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Santa Barbara, LA, etc, who have wrapped their music loving arms around me and cheered me on. It most often doesn’t feel like “work”. It’s not glamorous 99% of the time, but it sure is FUN.
At this point, I’m honestly not sure what the future holds. I do write songs, and I do get to share them with people in town at local venues, but beyond that I’m not sure if or when anything else will happen. I’ve gotten sorta close a few times to something “bigger”, but I’ve continued to feel grateful for where I am and not longing for “more”. In this current musical climate, I’ve fully embraced the GIFT of being a local musician, performing at small venues with affordable ticket prices for folks who truly enjoy supporting live experiences and fostering relationships in their community. That’s probably not changing for me any time soon and I really enjoy cultivating this type of environment.
This postpartum experience has been different than the last two. My body doesn’t feel normal, my brain is a little mushy, and my heart aches to be with my husband and kids when I’m away from them. May is an extremely busy month this year and as excited as I am to do some “bigger” shows this month, I’m sad to be away from my family so much. Which is why I am intentionally stepping away for most of June to really soak in time together.
Anyways, if you made it this far, that’s my life update. I hope y’all are doing well. It seems as though lots of folks are trudging through some heavy waters, and I do my best to be a part of the solution, not the problem.
With love and kindness,
Lizzy 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
