Hellos friends 🌷
Maarsii / Miigwech for your patience as I have taken a break from posting. It’s been busy and overwhelming and tiring recently, and I wanted to let my spirit have some rest.
I deeply believe that energy is integrated into art, specifically beadwork, and I wanted to return to this practice when I felt more like myself.
I’m excited to share more coming up 🥰

Artist spotlight: @passagebeading 🌙
Tayvie (she/her) is a mixed-Indigenous woman with Ojibwe, Saulteaux, Métis, and settler heritage from Black River, Red River, and Poplar Point. Some of her families last names include: Bird, Bruce, and Wood(s). Tayvie creates luxurious handmade beaded earrings with inspiration from traditional Woodlands and Métis beadwork, the land, the water, and popular culture. Her work highlights the beauty of Indigenous culture and her own reclamation to traditional practices that have been suppressed by colonialism. Shop her beadwork, stickers, prints, and tote bags online or at in-person markets!
You can find @passagebeading and her gorgeous art at Queer Coded Market on November 23! 🌌

Yesterday, we hosted our first Beadwork Circle & Workshop, and it was a huge success! ✨🪡
12 Indigenous women* gathered on unceded Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh land to learn brick stitch hoops and the results were stunning.
Miigwech to our attendees for beading with an open and welcoming spirit! 🤲🏽 ‘Till next week where we will try fringe earrings.
