A LONG LUNCH WITH TRISH & GIANFRANCO
Trilli is joining forces with Gianfranco & Isacco Manca and Pasi Petanen in a glorious Sunday lunch.
When Pasi will be storming out beautiful roman & sardinian inspired food with his usual ‘Finnish’ touch, Giorgio, Trish and Gianfranco will be serving you wines from Ajola, Gazzetta and Panevino.
Ajola is a small farm located between Lazio, Tuscany and Umbria, in the hills between Orvieto and Bolsena. It was a collaboration between friends – Jacopo, Gigi and Trisha. In 2017 they decided to go their separate ways: Trisha took over 4 hectares of white vines on the sandy shore of Lake Bolsena and started vinifying the fruit there under a separate label called Gazzetta. The two wineries are still very much connected and continue to collaborate, with Jacopo overseeing the vines at Ajola and Trisha in Bolsena. Recently they began farming 3 hectares of red grapes together, mainly Sangiovese, between Orvieto and Perugia. Here the climate is slightly hotter and instead of the volcanic soil there is clay.
Gianfranco Manca is born and grown up in Nurri which was one of the most important Sardinian wine region until 50 years ago. Since he was a child he’s been making bread and wine, pane e vino (Panevino) but his first official lable was released only in 2005. Gianfranco is got a deep understanding of his land , grapes, yeasts; making wines is like painting -he says- using your grapes and yeasts as colours. In this prospective each wine is an art work, a story to tell, feelings to express and for this reason cannot be repeated; with very few exceptions each year the lables are
different.
