We were fortunate to host our Spring Garden Soiree and @theseedfarm âs 12th Annual Spring Plant Sale in Emmaus, PA, this previous weekend! We are full of gratitudeâto community members who stopped by to show their support, to volunteers for making these two events possible, to @mariarodale for sharing her magic, and most importantly, to The Seed Farmâs Incubator Farmers @bluesungrowers@bubblyhillsfarm@thegnargarden@doe.mtn.produce for their stewardship and dedication to growing a resilient community food system. đ±

A big win for sustainable farms and food systems. đ± During Earth Week last month, this group of local and regional food businesses came together to raise more than $36k for Pasa in support of advancing environmentally sound, economically viable, community-focused farms and food systems.
Now in its 19th year, this annual fundraiser, led by @fourseasonsproduce , continues to show whatâs possible when partners across the food system align around a shared purpose. Weâre incredibly grateful for their ongoing commitment to this work.
If youâre able, stop in, shop, or give these businesses a follow to show your support. đ

Wow! Thanks to all our volunteers, @pasafarming , and @waterlandlife , PHF now has 450 more trees than it did on Monday! We established 2 riparian buffer zones on the farm around the streams to keep livestock pollution out of the water and nutrients in the soil.
@treesforgraziers also planted 250 more directly in the pastures last week to provide shade and forage for our livestock, creating a silvopasture system as they take root.
Thatâs 700 trees total đČđł
Thanks so much to these organizations and for the hard work of everybody that came out to plant! Itâs an exciting step towards becoming better stewards of sustainable agriculture and land management.

Today, Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and Pasa Sustainable Agriculture Executive Director Hannah Kinney Smith celebrated National Apprenticeship Week at The Seed Farm, a 42-acre incubator farm in Lehigh County dedicated to training the next generation of farmers.
The event celebrated Pasaâs new role as stewards of the farm alongside their regional and Shapiro Administration partners who are investing together to offer access to land, infrastructure, and expertise to aspiring farm entrepreneurs through the farmâs programs and resources.
Pennsylvania leads the nation in the percentage of farmers under 35 â and under Governor Josh Shapiroâs leadership, the Commonwealth has created more apprenticeship opportunities and training programs to train more young Pennsylvanians who want to work in agriculture.

Twice a year, our team gets together in person for a three-day retreat to reconnect with each other and our mission. This spring, we enjoyed the breeze at our riverfront office in Harrisburg and watched the hills of Perry County. đŸđ„ŹđȘ±
As a primarily remote team, weâre so grateful for these in-person opportunities to grow alongside each other!
