Arepas, chicharrones and wild skies. Thanks so much to @bimenet_ for making my Colombian dreams come true. Getting to ride the outdoor escalators of Medellín was everything.
Feat. laughable sunburn
Took the chance to join my parents for a week on their travels. Goa > Lucknow > Shimla.
Shimla was one of the most incredible places I’ve ever been, essentially built on a cliff edge it was impossible to capture just how steep and wild this place was.
Favourite foods from Japan and where to find them.
1. Udon noodles with butter and pollock roe. Taniya, Tokyo.
One of the best dishes I’ve ever had, freshly made udon and very local/non-touristy vibe.
2. Wagyu tartar. Julia Wagyu, Kyoto.
Amazingly delicious wagyu and sashimi at this unassuming place right on the river in Kyoto.
3. Luxury sushi. Hokuriku, Kanazawa.
Classic conveyor belt sushi restaurant, amazing quality.
4. Jun Special. Ramen Tatsunoya Shinjuku, Tokyo.
Best ramen of my life.
5. Custard Taiyaki. Naruto Taiyaki, Tokyo.
Wasn’t sure about Taiyaki until I tried it here.
6. Poke bowl. Fisheries terrace, Tokyo.
Bit of a walk out here but if you can, make the walk. Such an amazing spot with swings right on the water. Just as good as anywhere in the outer market but with added view and no crowds.
7. Aburi mochi. Ichimonjiya Wasuke, Kyoto.
The most incredible little tea house. I’m not a fan of mochi but this was something totally different.
8. Small bowl rice lunch. Munimuni Umeda, Osaka.
9. Tuna skewer. Kuromon Market, Osaka.
It was really hard to choose what to eat here but this skewer was absolutely perfect.
10. Okonomiyaki. Gion Tanto, Kyoto.
Such a great place with tatami floors and a griddle to keep your food warm while you eat.
11. Ice cream from 7-11
Obsessed with this ice cream. 1 million of them please.
12. Katsudon. Abe, Fujinomiya
Extremely traditional local place in this small town. Absolutely perfect.
13. Tonpei-yaki. Sōya, Kyoto
This is pork wrapped in a very light omelette, everything we had here was so great, including the blue cheese noodles.
14. House gyoza. Chao Chao Gyoza, Kyoto
This is a chain but these tiny gyoza were so perfect.
15. Curry pan. Panraku, Kyoto.
I’m obsessed with curry pan. This place was particularly exceptional.
16. Tempura myaki and wild boar with ginger. 表乃蔵, Tokyo.
We found some amazing izakayas in Taito on our last night, these dishes don’t look like much but they were perfect.
Day one of travelling around Iceland with @marinedepluie and @mungostongue and I can only apologise to the other 300 breath-taking views that I wasn’t able to include in this round up.
Okay last lot of photos from our 50+ day trip I promise. Mexico City is a colourful paradise. Plus one more photo of the waterfall because it was amazing.
