Congratulations to Nulkaba parkrun, NSW, in the wonderful Hunter Valley Wine Country, who were awarded Cessnock City Council Community Event Of The Year 2026!
The award was presented as part of the Australia Day Awards, recognising the connections the event team has made with the local community. 🌳
I started parkrun four years ago at 65, and it has helped to improve my running. I only started running during COVID at the age of 63.
My most enjoyable parkrun was this past ANZAC Day — my goal was to be able to run a parkrun with my grandsons.
I’m slowing down and I wasn’t sure if it would happen. It was lovely to have my grandsons join me — although they did find me too slow!

If you’ve been thinking about it, this is your sign to come along!!
I headed to my local parkrun at Limestone Park in Ipswich, wearing my Lorna Jane x parkrun outfit, because this is more than just activewear, it’s about getting more women moving.
And what I love about parkrun is that it’s completely free, it happens every week, and anyone can join in.
You’ll see people running, walking, and volunteering.
There’s no pressure, no expectations, just a really supportive community showing up for themselves and each other.
It’s honestly such a simple way to move your body, get outside, and feel connected.
Cloudy skies and all, I left feeling so much better 🌸✨

@brooksrunningau know that every parkrun is powered by more than walkers and runners, it’s powered by people in the local community.
That’s why this National Volunteer Week, Brooks is celebrating the incredible parkrun volunteers who help bring the community together every week. If you’ve volunteered at parkrun within the past 12 months, you’ll automatically go into the draw to win 1 of 5 pairs of Brooks Ghost 18s!
