“Suffering is a privilege”
That is what I thought the last hour of Ironman Chattanooga. I didn’t tell too many people I was racing, because honestly, until the gun went off, I didn’t even know myself if I was. Earlier last week I almost cancelled the flights after failing some (zone 2) bike workouts, run niggles starting to come back, and just being in a very bad headspace overall (just ask @natashavdm81 😅). I truly don’t think I have ever been less excited to race. However, I promised a few athletes I coach I’d be there, and I felt as it was part of my job description to at least show up. So sadly United Airlines got to keep my money.
It’s been far too long since I last executed a race to my best possible abilities. However, finally, yesterday. We did it. The smiles and the tears at the finish line didn’t come from happiness of setting a new PR or the joy of finishing. they came because I finally. Finally. Was able to push my body far enough to feel the pain. I can’t remember the last time I hurt so much. Every step hurt so bad. Yet every step I smiled. This. This is what it’s truly all about.
No nutritional mistakes to blame a bonk on or to hold me back.
No improper pacing to cause a blow up.
Just pain, suffering, and country music.
I used to think it was all about winning. But no. I learned quickly that If you only race to win, you won’t get very far (in my case, you won’t even get to the finish line 😬)
It’s about doing the best you can do on the day you are given. (Although anyone that tells you winning doesn’t feel good is lying)
8:36:30 was the best my mind and body could do yesterday. And 8:36:30 was the time i finished in.
And for that, I truly am proud of myself for this one.
To all my athletes out there. Thank you. You inspire & motivate me more than you could ever know. If it weren’t for you, I doubt I would’ve even show up. Thank you.
And Natasha, my coach. My mentor. My boss. My best friend. And oh so much more.
As always, ❤️🫶

“Why do you do Ironmans” - This is why. The feeling you experience when you cross that finish line. It truly is magical
@ryan.triathlon made me cry with his reel so had to repay the favor🥹😭

Yesterday will be a day I never forget. I have never felt such a roller coaster of emotions.
I have never cried more in one day.
From crying tears of disappointment, questioning why even bother to keep doing this sport.
To experiencing pure bliss, and crying tears of joy.
I could go on and on about the day and what unfolded. But I will keep it to this.
Thank you. To my athletes, who over the past few months have not just become my closest peers, but family.
Thank you.
Thank you allowing me to be a part of your journey.
Thank you for confiding your highs and your lows with me.
Thank you for reminding me why I love this sport.
But most importantly.
Thank you for sharing with me the moment - the feeling - that no words can describe. One that is truly unmatched.
One that only those who have experienced, can understand.
The reason why I have made this sport my livelihood.
You allowed me to relive the moment you become an Ironman.
And for this, I will forever be grateful.
Second go at trying to get back into things. I tired 4 days after Ironman Texas and found out I am NOT Kristian Blummenfelt. I got burnt out and injured. Again. I’m happy I did though. Because I finally leaned I may be in fact trying to doing too much which in turn is making me actually do less. Checkout the latest video where I talk about how I plan to #TrainLessToTrainMore because we all know. More is more! Sure to follow and subscribe to find out how long I can stick to this + how many weeks I can string together!
Also FYI 🚨. Mother’s Day is in fact, TODAY!

Ironman Texas Bike Nutrition!
I’ve been getting quite a few questions on this on my YouTube channel ( go and subscribe, even Lionel has) so I thought I would make a post on it! Feel free to ask more questions here.
I had 5 bottles with me - ended up loosing one (sadly, the Raw one. RIP. luckily that had only extra water ). Also, if you want to try out the best carb + sodium supplements there are. Use code NVDM to save on all @raw.endurance products. I used the @hdrop.tech sweat sensor to dial in my sodium needs. Ever since I have started using that, I have not cramped 🤞. Code Pkerth10 to save
Bottle 1 (950ml) (BTA) - 5 scoops raw fuel + 2 scoop replenish (135 carbs / 3000mg sodium)
Bottle 2 (950ml) (Left BTS) - 5 scoops raw fuel + 2 scoop replenish (135g carbs / 3500mg sodium )
Bottle 3 (950ml) (Right BTS) - water
Bottle 4 (650ml) (BTA upside down - Dark one) - 5 scoops raw fuel + 2 scoops replenish (135 carbs / 3500mg sodium )
Bottle 5 (650ml) (Downtube - light bottle) - 5 scoops raw fuel + 2 scoop replenish) (135g carbs / 3500mg sodium / 200mg )
I also took in 3 aid station bottles. Each with 500mg sodium + 950ml. This ended up totaling ~120g carbs / 4000mg sodium / 1.4L per hour (I think - let me know if my math is wrong). Next time, I plan on adding an extra 25g carbs and 500-1000mg sodium per hour, as even tho I did not cramp, my hammies were starting to tickle me.

The first time I did an Ironman, it was the feeling of crossing that finish line that made me want to come back for more.
But the more I do this, I’m finding it is everything around it that is bringing me the most joy.
The people, the shared effort, and the memories we make along the way. Somehow seem to be topping those red carpet feels
Our guy did it again
Congratulations Coach @parkerkerth on another incredible performance in the Woodlands!

It’s RACE WEEK! Last year, I managed to snag some pics with THE BEST IN THE WORLD. Will we be able to do better this year? Hard to believe. But I’ll try my hardest! The training is done. The heat prep is done. The body is ready. All that is left is to get the mind right! Here’s to a #NoLimits Mindset! Let’s do this!
Officially a part of the 300 FTP club 🥳🥳. What are the odds I push 300 at TX ? I’ll be walking the marathon anyway, so may have to give it a shot!
