[The Workers’ Party - Team East Coast] The Blk 216 Bedok Food Centre & Market, a place often frequented by many residents who live in the East - including Aljunied GRC residents who reside in Bedok Reservoir and Bedok North - has been in the news over the last few weeks from around the Labour Day weekend. Three tuberculosis (TB) clusters with a total of 13 genetically similar cases isolated to three locations in Bedok Central dating from January 2023 to February 2026 triggered a TB screening protocol. The news saw many members of the public avoiding the market and hawker centre, even though there was no instruction or guidance to indicate that it was unsafe to visit and to partake in some superb hawker fare, or to visit Bedok Central in general. The Workers’ Party East Coast team of @jasperkuanwp @parisvwp @sufyanmp.wp and @yeejennjong dropped in to the hawker centre over the weekend following the annoucement of the TB screening to show their support for the hawkers and stall owners who were badly affected by the loss of business, while WP Organising Secretary @dennistanlf_wp and I dropped in after, and through the course of last week, to do the same. I had lunch at the hawker centre today, and it was certainly good to see the public keeping calm and carrying on! If the specified locations at Bedok Central are places you visited often from January 2023 (i.e. you spent a cumulative 96 hours in a year [equivalent to two hours per week or eight hours per month]), do consider free voluntary TB screening (up to 6 Jun 2026) as a precautionary measure. You can also make your decision about voluntary screening, if it applies to you, over some coffee and curry puffs, nasi padang, fish ball noodles or chee cheong fun - all the hawker food my colleagues and I sampled (caveat - to my knowledge only) over the course our visits in the past 10 days or so! #workingforsingapore #wpsg

#TeamEastCoast met at Bedok 216 market this afternoon on the first anniversary of #GE2025 to share some good campaign stories over some good food. Many delights were sold out by then but we were very much contented with the delicacies we managed for get our hands on! Whenever you’re in the neighbourhood, do drop by to have your breakfast or lunch meals from the many dedicated and long-time hawkers here. Do come with your families and colleagues too, the more the merrier! #SupportOurHawkers

GE2025 - It has been exactly one year today, since polling day. For me, it was a new journey in politics and it has been a great milestone in my life. We thank the East Coast GRC voters and supporters for believing in us and supporting us. We thank the volunteers who worked tirelessly in supporting us before, during, and after the campaign. We will continue this journey in reaching out to the EC residents with our house visits, hawker/market visits and other outreach events 🩵🙏🏼🔨 #theworkersparty #wecontinue #workingforsingapore

Hi! Hello! #TeamEastCoast paid a visit to Bedok South Horizon this evening. Such great interactions with residents. Parliament sits this past week, and topics of the day do not go unnoticed. We are glad that many residents have followed the issues closely, and we appreciate the views and feedback that were shared. If you wish to join our estate walks and have the same meaningful conversations we’ve had, do sign up as a volunteer with us here: https://www.wp.sg/volunteer We hope to see you soon! #TheWorkersParty #WorkingForSingapore

#TeamEastCoast visited the Simei Street 4 neighbourhood this evening. Great to catch up with residents as we approach the weekend. While many were generally in a relaxed mood, some residents shared their anxieties on how recent geopolitical conflicts may soon affect their kitchen tables. Daily expenses are rising, as fuel costs are impacted. Food prices are naturally the next worry. Nevertheless, we all share a common hope that peace will soon prevail. Locally, some residents were concerned about the increasing risk of mosquito breeding areas in the neighbourhood, particularly around the common areas. Heartening to know that the NEA are responding to their concerns and we hope that this is also resolved soon. It goes unsaid, that it’s the little things that matter. We sincerely appreciate the residents who went out of their way to hand us some drinks as we made our way through their corridors and staircases. Thank you for sharing your evening with us. Thank you for caring.

Team East Coast met the Muslim residents at the Al Asnar mosque today morning, to convey our Hari Raya greetings to them and to distribute kueh tarts. It was awesome to see so many of them dressed in colours and exchanging greetings. Thank you to the EC volunteers for joining us early today morning and helping out with the kueh tarts distribution.
