The best way to use AI-technology is to start with something real. A few months ago, we worked on a vertical AI series for @aist.aistories , where we had to stage a fight scene. The problem is AI-generated fights still tend to look flat and overly simplified (even seedance 2.0 can’t be creative in that). So we flipped the process: we got together in a studio, choreographed and shot the fight by hand — with real energy, weight, and rhythm. AI is a powerful tool but not a replacement for real craft. directed and edit by @parh0 fight choreography @mikk.boy stunt actors @mikk.boy @nanokovacs film by @dmitriyvollmer_dp AI magic @aist.aistories

The tracking effect in Upgrade is real — it wasn’t done in post, which is why it looks so good. I’m holding the DJI Force Pro, a wireless controller that lets us control the Ronin 2. I just move it with my body, and the gimbal instantly mirrors my motion. The tests were done with @emil_haziev and @dmitriyvollmer_dp during the prep for the sci-fi action film Jumper. #DJIForcePro #Ronin2 #FilmmakingTools #Cinematography #CameraRig #GimbalControl #FilmGear #BTS #FilmmakerLife #CameraMovement #OnSet #UpgradeMovie #FilmTricks #PracticalEffects

For this project, I drew inspiration from Michel Gondry’s style – hand-crafted eye costumes, a metaphorical space, miniatures, projections, and optical illusions. We decided to avoid VFX as much as possible which led to lots of fun and unexpected solutions. My favorite trick: using a projector before painting from the camera’s position allowed us to perfectly match the costume patterns with the graffiti. And a fun fact – inside the “eye masks,” it was almost impossible to see anything. So, the choreographers had to memorize the moves and repeat them over and over by muscle memory. Pulling off a one-shot drone sequence takes more than just flying skills, it’s a mix of precision, timing, and relentless dedication. From grabbing a moving drone mid-flight to syncing every motor adjustment, it’s all about pushing the limits of creativity and teamwork. How far would you go to capture the perfect shot? Drop your thoughts below. Credits: @parh0 @emil_haziev #sangeliaworldwide #media #drone #dronepilot #dronedaily #filmmakers #behindthescene #cinĂ©ma

In 2021, I directed TV idents for the Viasat TV1000 channel. The concept for the idents was short animated movie posters for non-existent films, where all roles were played by two actors. It was a true challenge for me as I had to come up with 34 (!!!) unique poster ideas, spanning the entire spectrum of cinema, from horror to comedy. During the brainstorming and directing of these idents, I managed to burn out twice. But despite that, it was a awesome project with complete creative freedom. Here are my top 10 favorite posters from the entire pack. Which one is your favorite? 1 - original commercial 2 - CG breakdown 3 - animatic 4 - director’s concept It was a technically challenging project. We needed a jumping car, like lowriders. First we looked for a real one, but we couldn’t find it. Then the owner of the rare mercedes did not allow to elevator it on a car elevator by the front axle. It became clear that we would have to look for more trickier solutions. Time was short, so we had to build a special «swing» mechanism to simulate lowrider jumps. And then compose the hero with CGI car. The last picture is my hastily sketched concept. The light weight of Insta360 X3 camera allows to use magnets for quick mounting. 3D printers allows to print the necessary mounts. Drones are stable and compact. All of this made it possible to shoot this one-shot work. 10 years ago, it wouldn’t have worked. What a wonderful time we live in. And thanks to the genius @emil_haziev , who realized this story technically.
