This exhibition marks Nishiki’s first solo presentation in Japan. Nishiki is based in Rotterdam and has been developing practice that intervenes in social infrastructures such as logistics, distribution, and resource circulation, by reconfiguring them as systems for generating new forms of value. Nishiki has developed projects that intervene in the mechanisms of social infrastructure—such as logistics, distribution, and resource circulation—reconfiguring them as apparatuses for generating new value.The work presented in this exhibition, Banana Fallout Shelter (2026), is a social experiment that embodies the practice of (un)making. Through themes of resources, circulation, investment, and the question of value in the future, Nishiki’s practice critically examines the economic and survival systems that underpin contemporary society, approaching them with both humor and critical insight. 【Upcoming exhibition at PARCEL】 "Delivering Presence” A solo exhibition by 横山奈美 | Nami Yokoyama Term: 2026.04.25 Sat – 06.07 Sun Opening Reception: 2026.04.24 Fri 18:00-21:00 ___________________________ PARCEL is pleased to present “Delivering Presence”, a solo exhibition by Nami Yokoyama. Yokoyama's artistic practice has been consistently driven by an inquiry into how the apparatus of painting can deconstruct and reconstruct the historical distance she feels toward the Western tradition of "oil painting," alongside the emotional catalysts of "unrequited longing" and "inferiority". Running through all of Yokoyama's work is a disposition toward the presences and relationships that lie behind visible form. Taking the material structure of neon and the words as markings as a point of departure, her works direct our attention toward the physical form and presence that exist behind them. In this exhibition, in addition to the “Shape of Your Words” series and a new work titled “Shape of Your Response,” in which the artist’s friends respond to the artist’s own questions, a new installation made of tin—created by repeating the casting process as many times as the artist’s age—will also be presented. The artist will be present at the opening reception on Friday, April 24th. We warmly invite you to take this opportunity to visit the gallery. この度、PARCELでは横山奈美による個展「Delivering Presence」を開催いたします。 横山奈美の作品制作は、西洋由来の「油彩画」という形式に対する歴史的な距離感と、それに伴う「叶わぬ憧れ」や「劣等感」という情動的起点を、絵画という装置を通じていかに解体・再構築し得るかという問いに貫かれてきました。 それらの作品に通底しているのは、目に見える形の背後にある存在や関係性へと目を向ける姿勢です。2016年より展開される「Neon」シリーズでは配電線やフレームを克明に描写することで構造を支える「見えない存在」の可視化を試み、「筆跡のトレース」を探求した近年の「Shape of Your Words」シリーズでは、他者の存在を受け入れ、その関係性を見つめる表現へと広がりつつあります。 本展では「Shape of Your Words」シリーズと、そこから作家自身の問いに友人が応じる新作「Shape of Your Response」のほか、自身の年齢の数だけ型取りを反復する錫（すず）の新作インスタレーションも発表いたします。 4月24日(金)のオープニングレセプションには作家も在廊予定ですので、皆様のご来廊をお待ちしております。 ___________________________ Nami Yokoyama @namiyokoyama Venue: PARCEL Open: Wed-Sun 14:00-19:00 Closed: Mon, Tue, National Holidays

“In my work, English is no longer a language belonging to any particular person; it becomes a vessel through which people of all backgrounds may meet. When I trace the outline of words that have spread across the world and its meaning blurred over time, those words slip free from their fixed definition, and the person who wrote them begins to emerge. The paintings of “I am” and “Here” presented in this exhibition, alongside the new work “Shape of Your Response” in which I posed the question “where” and a friend replied “here,” cannot be reduced to the exchange of information. He completed his MFA in Painting (Mural Laboratory) at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2018. His active projects include SCAN THE WORLD, Urban Research Group, Installments, and New Ceremony. "Banana Fallout Shelter" is a social experiment focused on the production and distribution of canned bananas in preparation for a future in which the Cavendish - a cloned variety cultivated and distributed worldwide - goes extinct, causing prices to skyrocket. During the exhibition, Nishiki presents canned bananas produced on-site over the course of the exhibition. Made according to an unconventional canning method know as "Hot-Fill-Hold," each can reflects meticulous attention to detail, from the quality of the contents to the design of its label. The installation comprises stacks of canned bananas, a monitor displaying prices fluctuating in real time according to the extinction risks, and a sleeping bag evoking the imagery of an overnight production floor.
