Papermaking demo for @allentownrefringe at @allentownassociation !! It was such a great day, despite the rain because I got to hang out with Amy whose project, Mending Our City: One Stitch at a Time was teaching people how to sew using antique and modern sewing machines! I can’t say enough about @allentownrefringe so far. It’s reminding me about all the reasons I fell in love with the Infringement Festival over 20 years ago…We are bringing art to the people, not trying to bring people to the art, and I’m HERE for it. ❤️ Haven’t heard of it? Check it out at:

The SUNY school system in NYS enacted a policy to reduce their consumption of single use plastics and other products designed for single use. And guess what…that includes balloons for decorations, which we think is fantastic because balloons are not only wasteful but they are terrible for wildlife once they are disposed. But now what will they do for events?? We’ve got the answer for that too! Sustainable paper florals & decor are the perfect alternative to balloon arches. We worked with the fabulous @ubuffalocolab at @universityatbuffalo to create handmade paper flowers and decor for the Panasci Pitch Competition…but that’s not all! We designed all these pieces to be reused and repurposed for other events throughout the year, to keep them in use, out of the landfill and to reduce the costs of decorating in the future. We made sure everything was branded in their colors but not event specific so they could easily set parts of this project up for a wide variety of events and to decorate their offices. Another fun repurposing tidbit, the Welcome sign you see in the first slide?? We made that for their offices last spring and they brought it out to reuse for this event! Fresh flowers could never do that. Everyone was so happy with how it all turned out. Swipe to see some fun BTS shots of our studio covered in blue and yellow flowers and carrying a giant white paper sculpture in the wind! 🌬️🌬️ And huge credit goes to @sydstrano for creating every single one of these flowers while the rest of our team has been in neck deep in Earth Day seed bomb and seed paper jobs. You NAILED IT!!!
